Two Under 2

New here, ? About horrible sleepers (#1)

Hi, I'm new preparing for 2u2 and starting to have lots of questions. My main concern right now is DDs sleep habits! She is up every hour all night! I am starting to worry how I (DH will help) will manage two LOs up all night. My question.... Anyone have a #1 who was/is a horrible sleeper? When did he/she start sleeping better? How did you manage two overnight?where did #1 & 2 sleep? Thanks, you'll be hearing a lot more from me!

My DD was a horrible sleeper up until 3 weeks ago. We ended up sleep training her using the Baby Whisperer method. It's not CIO so we felt comfortable with it. The book went over lots of sleep solutions. I highly recommend it!! DD is 10 months old. Used to wake 9-11 times a night every night. Now she STTN just about every night from 9-7am. DD will be sleeping in her own room in her crib and #2 will be in his own room in his crib. Good luck!

  • My DS #1 is a difficult sleeper...He tosses and turns all night until he wakes himself up...He wakes up about 3 times during the night...I just give him a binky and pats his back and he goes right back to sleep...he also crawls in  his sleep so sometimes he crawls into the crib rails and wakes himself up....he wakes up every morning between 5:30-6 am for a bottle...sometimes he goes back to sleep but sometimes he doesn't...I hope he grows out of it because I have no clue what to do to help him sleep better...DS #2 is due any day now and I'm nervous about how nights will be then...Good luck!!!!

  • My #1 isnt a bad sleeper all the time, but he's inconsistent. He started STTN at 11 months. To get him to drop night feedings, I started offering water instead of a bottle. Now he rotates between STTN for 12 hours to getting up a few times a night. I'm pretty sure he's starting to get nightmares, because he cries and even when I go to comfort him/give him water he's still fussy. :(

To answer the question of how you manage, you just do. Can you fit a twin bed in the kids room so one person can sleep in there? It might help you manage more sleep. During the bad stretches we'd do shifts-I'd sleep from 8-1, then from 1-6 I'd let DH sleep and be on kid duty. At least that way we both got 5 hours of sleep a night.

We have the kids sharing a room.
