Insulting day at work (PIP added)

Let me preface this by saying that I haven't told work yet that I am PG. I only have two more days before summer break (Wed and Fri) so I'm not planning on telling them. I definitely am showing in regular clothes, but I think I hide it pretty well in the clothes I wear to work. So in my one class, I have this very sweet, but very nosy girl. Several weeks ago, I didn't feel well so she asked me if I was pregnant. I just played it off like "I think I would know if I was pregnant, Lauren." Since then, she has been obsessed with me having a baby. Today she tells me that I'm getting kind of old and my eggs are going to expire soon if I don't get pregnant. She said "you don't want to have one of those petri dish babies." Now, of course what we went through is none of her business, but that offended me so I asked her what's wrong with "petri dish babies." She answered "Well... nothing... but you don't really want one." So I said "What if that's the only way I can have a babies?" To which she replied "Well, then I guess you would want one." So basically from that conversation, I'm old and the way my children were conceived wasn't good.

Later, I was in the hall looking for a security guard to take my student to the bathroom (they can't leave the classroom unescorted) when this group of students WITH AN ADMINISTRATOR walks by. One of the girls (who has a toddler at home, mind you) asked me "Miss, are you pregnant?" OMG I was mortified. I said "Excuse me? Do you know how insulting that is?" She said she only asked because I had my hand on my back (it was really on my hip) but as they continued past me, she kept talking about me saying things like "Well did you see her stomach?" I was wearing a pretty loose shirt with a flowy cardigan over it so I really didn't think you could tell. So now all these kids are talking about whether or not I'm pregnant in front of my bosses that don't know. Sad

I am sorry your students are being so rude. My mouth dropped when I read what the first girl said to you that was very rude. Sorry you having to deal with these rude comments.

Wow, where the hell do you work?? Those kids are ridiculous.

Don't be offended that an ignorant-doesn't-know-better-rude kid was speaking about something that she does not know about. She's obviously an idiot. And that administrator should have said something as well. Sheesh.

(On a side note, I do believe this calls for a BPF this week. Just sayin' Stick out tongue )

Wow, I'm not sure if I am amazed more at how observant they are or how rude they are. Why in the world would that first little girl even know about "petri dish" babies? I am assuming by the way they talk this is an elementary school? Who talks to their kids about that and says things about it negatively?

I will say, if the kids are noticing, I bet the adults are too. The kids are just more straightforward and don't have filters.

Wow. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I could imagine that would be completely embarrassing. Only two more days of work to go! Hopefully, they will go by without further insults.

LOL. These kids are from all over the district. I'm not sure where the second girl is from but the first is from the M-boro.

The first girl is a sophomore and the second girl is a senior.

The first girl. Just...wow. It's one thing to ask if someone is pregnant, quite another to then go on and on about the age of your eggs and the "petri dish babies" thing. Hurtful as a PgALer, let alone that you'd just hinted to her that you weren't pregnant. Holy hell would that sting if you were still TTCAL.

I agree with the pp that I think this calls for a BPF this week. I also agree with another pp that if multiple students are asking, you may be showing more than you realize. At 16w with twins I'd think it would be pretty hard to hide. The adults may just have a better filter.

The first girl asked if I was PG a while ago because I said I didn't feel well. I'm going to add a PIP because I really don't think I looked PG in what I wore today. I guess you can tell me if I'm delusional, though.

Indifferent Wow, just wow. I'm impressed with your patience and your ability to not go pregzilla on them. Both of those girls were incredibly rude and insensitive and the administrator should have said something. I'm going to pretend that the administrator did say something, just did so out of your earshot.

As for your pip - too cute! You do look pregnant, but I'd be unsure enough to not ask or even hint if I didn't know you were.

Not surprised that you would get those types of comments from HS Students at an alternative school. They are there for a reason and tact is rarely something they posses! Looking at your pic above I would probablly guess that you might be, but would never dream to ask. The week is almost done- GL

I would have written girl #1 up for being disrespectful. Regardless of the status of your uterus, it's none of her business to be continuously commenting on it.

I'm with the other ladies, I'd suspect you were expecting but I sure as hell wouldn't say anything to you but then again that's what makes me a functioning member of society.

I think you're north of me or else I'd be tempted to go into your school and shake both of these idiots.

I would have said to the first girl "How do you know YOU weren't a 'petri dish' baby?". Teenagers can say some pretty sh!tty things!

You look tiny to me! I can see a little bump, but would never ask someone that small are they pregnant.
