Update on me and my surgery

Last Wednesday I went in and had a tummy tuck and liposuction.  I had this done under heavy sedation instead of general anesthesia.  I was asleep through most of it but sometimes I'd be in a semi awake state and I could feel what they were doing.  At that point the nurse would tell the Dr that I needed more pain meds and I'd drift back off to sleep.

All in all the surgery went great.  I had to have drains put in and to me those were the worst part of it all.  I hated the drains!!  Sometimes they leaked which would freak me out.  I just got back from having the drains removed at the Drs and I feel so much better.  I feel like I can walk better and just move around better in general.  I get to take a shower later which I'm thrilled about.  I didn't take one earlier because I was scared of the the drains falling or getting pulled on (and let me tell you when the drains got even the slightest bit tugged on the pain was horrible!)

So now the Dr says he is going to take my staples out on Wednesday.  I'm a little nervous about it but I have both sutures and staples.  I think the sutures are the dissolvable kind.  So over all I'm doing good and so far I'm happy with the results.  I really won't know the overall look until all the swelling goes down.

My husband told me this is the last surgery I can have done because he hates to see me go through pain and he loves me just the way I am. Smile

  • So glad you are healing well and feeling better.

Your DH is really a Dear Husband.  Awww ing along with Kittylove.

Sounds like my DH who said a very quick, "No!" when I hinted that I'd like a breast reduction/lift & tummy tuck after we're done with kids.  I quickly stated it wouldn't be for him, but for me & after wrecking my body to provide him children, he didn't have a say.  ;P  Of course that was my bratty response, but it does feel good to know he'd rather I didn't.

  • Glad everything went well J!!
