MIL and I took the boys to the playground, Saturday evening. To make a long story short: J stopped a big(ger) kid (as in age and size), on the jungle gym, shook his finger at him, and said (rather loudly), "You are being MEAN!" The best part was that he (J) was sticking up for the little girl that this boy was "picking on," as the "bully" hadn't actually said or done anything to J. I was so proud, I could've burst.
It's always so amazing, to me, to watch him "fly solo," especially in social situations. KWIM?
ETA: To further clarify, the "bully" was around 9 years old (a good 75+ lbs), and the little girl was maybe 6-7.
Re: Proud mommy moment
Good for J! I love hearing stories like this. Especially after this weekend when a couple of older girls were talking about/teasing L. I don't even know what they possibly could have been saying since they were probably a good five years older than her (and she is two) but it was hard for me to see kids being not so nice to my girl and frankly, it has been on my mind ever since. I guess I better grow some thick skin since I know it will only get worse once she can actually understand that not all kids are her "friends."
This is something we started dealing with on the playground last summer. It was hard to watch. I hate that I can't protect them from everything.
And yay for J!
I LOVE this! Go J!!!
