Metro and strollers?

Hello Ladies...I hope you don't mind me stopping over from the Atlanta board. 

We may be visiting the DC this fall and I was wondering how stroller friendly is the metro?  I'm guessing a side by side stroller isn't the best bet so I'll likely have a Phil and Ted's with the jump seat.  I'm not planning on doing a ton of metro travel, but with DH at a conference, I'll probably try and get out and about some with DDs.   Thanks!

    The Metro is pretty stroller friendly at least more stroller friendly than other public transportation systems. The smaller, the better and try to avoid rush hour times during the week. The weekends are a little more unpredictable.  

    7AM - 9:30AM or 4PM - 6:30PM.

    I find Metro pretty stroller friendly, as long as you don't travel at peak times (as PP said), during which you can barely cram yourself onto a car, much less a stroller.  Again depending on the time of day, you may have to wait a bit in line to get in an elevator.  Metro is also notorious for elevator outages, so I've had to take a stroller on the escalator more than once.  Those warnings aside, I definitely recommend it over renting a car or using buses.  It's a convenient and easy way to get around the city, especially with little ones.  Yours are at an age when they'll probably think it's really fun.
