baby movement question

I swear I have felt the baby move here and there, but not lately.  I am only 18 weeks, is it too early to be concerned about movement.?  I can't remember how far along I was with Austin when he started moving consistantly.

I am amazed that I can't remember anything from the first pregnancy and it was only 21 mo ago!

Re: baby movement question

  • I'm no doctor but from what I read it is perfectly normal to not feel your baby all the time at this point. I am 21 weeks right now myself and I remember maybe feeling the baby once a day if that at 18 weeks. Don't worry about it until your doctor tells you to worry about it.

  • I think that's normal.  And I have no idea when I remember feeling my guys.  But I definitely remember a girl on one other board swearing she could feel KICKS at 9 weeks.  You know, when the kid is the size of a marble.  whatevs.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure it was around midway through...  BUT, I always say trust your gut.  If you are worried at all, don't hesitate to call your doc.  That's their job.  That's what you pay them for.

  • I was just looking back through my blog and at 18 weeks I said that I could only occasionally feel movement and at 20 weeks I was feeling it more often. By 23 weeks I was feeling movement a lot while laying down. and by 24 weeks feeling lots of movement. So, I think it's normal for it to not be consistent at this point.

  • "They" (books, word of mouth, friends, etc) say you may start feeling the baby around 15 weeks, with a first pregnancy.  I felt it all much later.  I felt the little bubbles at 21 weeks and felt the more noticeable movement at 25 weeks.  After this, though, it was constant.

  • I swear I felt this baby once at 14 weeks and then not again until just last week and only the last two days have I been able to feel it more than once. I'd think it's more around 22+ weeks that you'd feel it consistently... but there are also people who "didn't know they were pregnant" and never felt it, so who knows! :)

  • At 18 weeks I was just barely feeling the babies, even today at almost 20 weeks I feel them pretty sporadically,  and I have twice as much baby in my belly as you do!   I definitely wouldnt worry about it!  =)

  • I didn't feel *a thing* until I was 18 weeks.  And at that point, it wasn't a ton.  I wouldn't worry about it at this point. :)

  • I didn't feel either of mine until about 20 weeks,so it is definitely too early to worry.

  • I've felt this baby since 16 weeks, but it hasn't been an everyday occurrence. I went 4 days without feeling anything, but last night he/she gave me a (hard!) kick for the first time. Everything else has been rolling/pushing and a popping feeling down low. Also, if you have an anterior placenta, it might take you 21+ weeks to feel baby. Definitely way too early to worry.
