My shower was yesterday and I got several boxes (the big ones with over 200 diapers per box) of diapers in size 1-2. My SIL and other mom friends told me if the babies are born weighing over 6lbs I probably wouldn't need newborn diapers that these would work.
What was your experience, should I have some newborn diapers on hand just in case?
Re: Diapers Question
I would have some NBs on hand, if not, at least some size 1s. If price is a consideration, then remember that size 1 is the cheapest of any size (cheaper than NBs for some reason)
My boys were born at 6lbs and 6lb1oz. Both were at least a month away from size 1s. Harry started in NBs and we had to put Alex in premmies since he lost a ton of weight. I would say we went thru 250-300 NB diapers plus 100ish premmie diapers before we hit size 1.

My DD was 8 lb 12 oz at birth and we were able to use a NB case we had on her without leaks no problem, so I'd say at lower weights you'd certainly be safe and well prepared to have some NB ones on hand! I believe Pampers (what I used) guidelines say up to 10 lbs and that held true in my experience. Also..I second taking whatever the hospital gives you! .
And how nice to have a shower to load you up with the Size 1s and 2s!
