Hi ,
I am brand new here and wanted to introduce myself. I am from central MA, about an hour west of Boston. My husband and I are finally expecting our first child after IVF. I am 12.5 wks pregnant (as you can see through my ticker) and we are starting to look into daycare because we both work full time jobs and will need daycare 3 days a week. I figured I would post here and see if anyone had any suggestions. I called around, and it seems like it will be very difficult to get anyone to care for our child until 7pm those 3 days. The problem is, that's when we get home, and it doesn't seem like anyone is willing to help us out. Are there any nanny agencies around here that are reasonable in price? (not that that is all we care about at all). Thanks for any help and sorry for asking for help right away in the first place. I hope to get to know all of you!
Re: Intro. and child care question.
Sorry can't help with your child care question. Although I could recommend Sittercity.com. My neighbor recommended the site when i needed an occasional babysitter. She used the site to find 2 different full time nannies and she has been very pleased. Just a thought.
But congrats and welcome to BB.
Welcome!
I second sitter city...and I also recommend care.com - I have friends who have had really good luck there. Or what about finding a daycare closer to your work instead of home? GL!
It's hard to tell what may work for you as the information you give is limited...Do you have a long commute? Car Share? Work a compressed workweek?
Depending on your answers a few things may be good options for you. Nanny Agency Fees are usually in the $5000 range - per placement and you get a 1 year commitment. After that you may get lucky and your Nanny stays on or you go through the process again. So sittercity.com and care.com are great alternatives and we've found good sitters there!
You may have luck in a home based center - I know my new provider is open from 7am - 6pm and would keep our child longer if ever needed... She is homebased but has 3 women that she employs part time...so a step above In-Home Daycare - but not quite a center...
Centers are the most inflexible - however you won't have to worry about sick time and vacation when you place your child in a center as they generally have enough employees to cover vacations.
