Cervidil induction anyone?? (repost june 2011)

Hi Ladies,

Just wondering how many of you have had a cervidil induction and how long did it take to get contractions going (if at all)?? I'm currently 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. They inserted cervidil this am and now I'm just waiting.......

It took about 4-5 hrs for me and I was 0% dilated/effaced. GL!

I went it and was 2cm, 90% effaced. They gave me the cervadil and after 7 hours, nothing had changed. The doctor then broke my water and I started pitocin, then the show started! Baby was born 10 hours after I started pitocin.

lurking... it never worked for me. Pitocin, and breaking my water is what did it for me. I hope you get better results.

I had been having contractions for weeks, but actual painful contractions started about 4 hours after the cervidil.

i was not dilated at all cervidil was placed at 8pm, by 330am i was having contractions...never needed pitocin -

I was 2-3cm dilated, about 80% effaced, and got the cervidil at 6pm. At 4:30 the next morning, I started getting intense contractions. Had my little boy just before 1:30pm. No pitocin necessary.

I was maybe a fingertip dilated and got the cervidil at 6:30am...had to be monitored for an hour, and by 8am, was having pretty good contractions...intense contractions by 9:30am and was begging for the epi...it got to the point where there was no break between contractions, one would just start to slow down when another one would start...LO was born at 1:32 pm! They planned on giving be pitocin at 10:30am but it was not needed.

After having it overnight, they started Pitocin in the morning to jump start contractions.

I was 2 cm dialiated when i had the cervidil inserted. I only got the first dose and by the time it was time for the second i was too far along to get it. 12 hours later my LO was born. I think it is different for everyone. Good luck!

With DD I went in at 1cm to start cervidil and nothing happened. I had it inserted at 4pm and removed at 7am. The only thing that worked was pitocin and my water breaking.

I didnt think Cervidil started contractions but more of thinning out the cervix

Had my first round of it around 2:30PM. Had a bishop score of 6 12 hours later, so I started round 2. By 6AM, I had my score of 7 to qualify for a trip to L & D to start labor.

Mine was awesome. It knocked me into labor. CTX were within 1.5hrs. Water broke after 3.5hrs. Got epi right away. Felt maybe 5 back to back CTX before epi and then all was completely painless for the entire labor! I was at 1.5cm when it broke. Went from 1.5cm to 10cm by 6am Got it at 10pm and she was born at 7:09am. Only pushed for about 20min tops.

The plan was to soften with Cervidil and start Pitocin to induce at 7a.m...That was not needed.

SORRY IN ADVANCE FOR THE CAPS...I'M ON MY ITOUCH AND I CAN'T TURN THEM OFF...ANYWAY I WAS 1CM AND 50%. IT TOOK 41 HRS BEFORE I WAS FINALLY 3 CM AND THEY BROKE MY WATER. THEN ANOTHER 7 HRS UNTIL DELIVERY. DURING THE 41 HOURS THEY DID 2 CERVADILS AND 3 PREPADIL TREATMENTS. HOPE YOURS GOES FASTER THAN MINE DID!

I was 2cm 50%, and contractions started within 10minutes. They got so bad (3-4 mins long with less than a minute in between) that it had to come out after 1 1/2 hrs. The contractions kept getting worse and were 8 minutes long with 30-45 seconds in between, before they gave me something to stop them bc LO wasn't tolerating the contractions. Long story short, I had a c-section 16hrs later.

I had TWO rounds of Cervidil and after two days of Pitocin, contractions were painful, but no progress in dilation. After 2 nights in the hospital, I ended up with the c-section. LO's head wasn't even engaged...I guess he was too big!
