Upstate NY Babies

not much happening yet..

My induction with eve was not this boring. I started pitocin about 2 hours ago..only up to "8" whatever that means.. should be getting stepped up again soon but haven't seen my nurse in a bit...oh and they havent broken my water..which they did with eve right when they started pitocin..probably because my ob isn't here. having ctx but they are not regular and are just starting to get a little painful. No one has checked me since before 7am so I don't know if I'm progressing.natalie was still super high and I was just 1cm when I got here. Meanwhile.. I'm bored and hungry and thirsty. Ice chips aren't really cutting it. I'm just impatient.. I had it in my head this would go quicker.

  • They don't let you eat while in labor there?
  • Be careful what you wish for! :)

I'm sure things will pick up and you will be snuggling with Natalie before you know it! Good luck!

Really? Not even crackers or something? That stinks.

Hope things move a bit more smoothly for you and you're snuggling Natalie soon!

  • grr. Just got checked after posting... no progress at all..baby is still way up high.. midwife didn't want to break my water yet cuz the head was still so high. So we're waiting til my ob gets here I guess. Midwife says not to be discouraged but I definitely am.

  • Well at least you're not in pain, right? I know you're discouraged but hang in there! My water had already broken with Justin and I was in labor for 20 hours when they started pitocin and it still took 12 more hours til I had him- you might be awhile ;)

  • If it were me, I would definitely have something to eat, even if I had to go to the bathroom and "sneak" it.  Inductions can be really long, and I think it us unreasonable to expect you to eat ice chips all day...that won't give you any energy!

  • Oh, that stinks! Even though it is a scary thought, (esp from my own experience with my induction and low Bishop score...a 3 I think?) might want to stick to the ice chips in case of the need for a section.

Do you know your Bishop score? I feel for you! My induction was 26 hours. I started fingertip dilated and baby was high. I didn't get real food for over 30 hours. Sad   Hang in there! You can do it!!!

  • Oh man that stinks! Fingers crossed things pick up for you and you have that baby in your arms and food in your belly! :) My Mom always told me things can change fast....so hopefully that holds true for you today!

Good luck again! Keep us posted!

  • Oh I feel your pain!  I wasn't able to eat for 36 hours with my induction.  :(  Hang in there!  She'll be here before you know it!!!  :)
  • Sorry you can't eat. I wasn't allowed to eat either during my induction. DH and I stopped at Burger King on our way in. I had to start with the cervadil for 12 hours first and I couldn't eat with that then had to wait 2 hours before they started the pitocin. I was only allowed a yogart inbetween and my nurse had to sneak that in for me which was at 5 in the morning. Then after she was born I was so tired I barely ate anything until dinner time.

Hoping things pick up for you. She will be here before you know it.
