Where do you jog with LO?

I'm interested in starting to run again, but outdoors with Els.  Any suggestions on locations?

Re: Where do you jog with LO?

  • Gloucester Twp park on Peter Cheeseman Road has pavement to run on.  The park by the Gloucester Twp Police Dept has an actual track.

  • I thought the rule was no jogging with the baby until 6 months? At that point it will be winter, so running outside probably wouldn't be ideal.

I personally like the idea of jogging on a track -- just seems safer to me. Less bumpy for baby. At least until 9 months or so. The scenery isn't great, but it would make me feel better.

Now that I think about it, with all the parks that we take the girls to, I've never seen someone jogging with a stroller. I'm sure people do, I've just never noticed. I only ever see them walking.

Have you looked into Stroller Strides? They don't run, but they do work out.

I can attach my car seat in the jogging stroller.

It's technically not recommended to jog like that. If you are, definitely find a flat, smoother surface. I did it once in my neighborhood since I was SO slow in the beginning, but the jogging stroller has a tendency to tip when the carseat is attached and it made me very uneasy.

  • I go to Cooper River, it's 3.65 miles around.  In between Cherry Hill, Collingswood and Camden, right off of Rt. 130.

Pennypacker park in CH is another option.

  • I jog in my neighborhood in the road (sidewalks are too narrow).  It's 1.3 miles.  I rotate out the 3 kids in the double jogger.  I asked my pedi about jogging with the LOs and they say the rec is at least 6 months but they prefer that you actually wait until 9 months.
