What do you think of the name Zuri?

I heard it during a dog competition. :) I looked it up and think it's a legit name. What do you think of it for a girl?

    It reminds me of Planet Zurg from Toy Story...kind of sounds like a take on Suri Cruize.

    Suri Cruise is what I think & this version makes me think of a uneek spelling subbing Z for S.  Not a fan of this version.

    I like the name Zuri. I currently watch 2 brothers with the name Zuri & Zavier, they are adorable i think thats why i like the name : )

    Here's what went through my head:

    1. A name from a sci-fi movie about people living on a spaceship. Maybe an space version of the name Suri. I think this is because Star Trek likes to use Z names.

    2. A short way to say Zurich, Switzerland

    Not a terrible name, but if I heard it and there didn't seem to be a cultural connection to the name, I would think the parents were very eccentric

    We had a little girl (age 3) that went to the preschool I teach at named Zuri. I didn't really like it. I thought it was a you-neek take on Suri.

    I don't hate it, but it does sound like someone's trying to take Suri even further out of the box than it already is, legit name or no.

    Yes, when I was in New Zealand two girls I taught (I did student teaching over there) names were Zara but spelled Xara.  Apparently, it's quite popular over there.
