For real though, it could be a baby wheeze- loud, might sound like a cry, and baby sleeps right through it. (I'm in the living room and I just heard one on my monitor.) Or, maybe you've heard cries so much that it rings in your brain even when your baby isn't crying. One night I let LO cry for a bit because I was so tired an angry if I went in there, something bad would have happened so it was smarter for me to let her just cry. Anyway, even an hour after she'd stopped crying I could still hear it in my head. Was your LO recently crying? Or is your house close enough to another's that if they have a baby monitor, the receptions might be on the same wavelength and you're hearing their baby cry? (This happened to me constantly in my high rise apartment in Japan- I couldn't even use the baby monitor because someone else's baby was always on both channels!)
Or, you have a ghost baby crying and you're hearing it in the monitor.
I think I do if the monitor is up too loud, but then again I can hear the neighbors like they're next to me in that thing, so it's probably DD just making teeny tiny sleep noises that sound like she's awake because of the volume lol
DD makes a lot of noises in her sleep. The Angelcare doesn't pick up most of them, but when she naps with me I always hear her whimpering or laughing. It's hilarious.
I married a ginger.

Haha, I do it too! At least once a night...usually closer towards the morning hours when I think he ought to be getting up, but 9 times outta 10 he's zonked.
What really creeps me out is the humidifer. There have been times when I'm watching him on the monitor and suddenly the vapors from the humidifer "float" up onto the screen and for a split second I think 'ahhhhh ghost'- gets me every time!
I here soooo many phantom noises. My monitor has a little light display that turns on more lights the louder the noise. I'll here noises but there will be no light. or i hear noises when the monitor in his room is turned off. i'll also hear the neighbor's cat's outside the baby's window through the monitor. sometimes i feel i need FBI surveillance training just to distinguish between all these sounds and what may actually be my son!

It could totally be that! Our next door neighbors have a baby, and a few times I've sworn I heard a lullaby playing over the monitor when there is no music on in Audrey's room. I'm pretty sure the monitor goes up to 900 feet, and their house would be in the distance of our living room.
Either that, or we have a ghost baby who listens to his ghost lullabies. My cat does meow at this certain spot on the wall a lot. Haha

We live in a apartment complex and I can hear other babies all of the time! When I was still pregnant I plugged in the monitors to see if they worked and I could hear a baby crying and someone open a door, walk in and talk to the baby! I was so creeped out!!!

Creepy!!!! That would freak me out!!
Yes, my DH thinks I'm crazy. I'll say - was that her? and he looks at me like I'm losing my mind.
I swear sometimes I'm dreaming of crying babies.
