Success after IF

Can babies get athelete's foot?

The skin around and in between the baby's toes is all red and scaly. I noticed it about a month ago and since then we have been extra vigilant about drying is feet completely after a bath.  I also try to leave his feet exposed whenever I can to help air them out.  If I do need to put him in socks or footed pants I put baby powder on his feet.  DH said he's been putting diaper cream on them.

Anyway we aren't seeing improvement.  I think he is just more clammy than our older son.  I will bring it up at his next dr apt, but wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions or experience with this.

  • I haven't heard of it, but I dn't see why it can't happen.  It is noting more than a fungal infection. Check with ped to see if you can use over the counter antifungal cream to see if it works.

  • Yes! Ethan had it around 12 months...we used lotrimin (sp) and it cleared it right up.

  • I think Caroline had a mild case of it when she was an infant.  We stopped putting socks on her for awhile, and started drying in between her toes with a hair dryer.  It healed with no meds, but I'm guessing that is not the norm.

I'd probably call...athlete's feet is uncomfortable.
