Success after IF

Am I the only one who didn't do baby books?

I take thousands (literally) of pictures and document things on my blog, but no traditional baby book.

The only things I've saved are cards I got for showers and cards sent specifically to the kids, invitations to birthday parties, and any cards sent out for Christmas, fall (yes, I have sent a happy fall card), or Valentines Day.

Am I a lame mom?

Re: Am I the only one who didn't do baby books?

  • No, someone bought me a book.  I filled some out but haven't stuck with it.  I save stuff and started a blog, but no formal book or anything.

  • No, I have two baby books and never filled them out.  I think I might make them some sort of memory box.

  • I have a baby book for Reese that I never filled out. I have a memory box for her that has her cards, birth announcement, baptismal gown, coming home outfit, etc. You should have your blog printed into a book for your babes. I have a friend who did that and it's awesome!

I am the same way. Tons of pictures, keep all invitations/ cards we send out, and post things on the blog. You are not lame! I also plan on keeping all of the cards Kate gets over the next few months.
  • I haven't really done and official baby book. However, I have kept a blog with pictures since before he was born and have had them printed out for each year so far using blurb.com.  I love them!!  I think they are so much more personal and really tell the story of his life way more than a traditional baby book ever could!

  • we dont' have one for Ava. I do her blog, and make a "year in review" video each year.  I've never been one for caring about "milestones" per say, so that works for us.  Plus I just started emailing her, for her to have access to later as a tween/teen.

  • I do have a baby book for both kids but I use it to record their doctor appointment stats and to write letters to them.  So I don't use it in the traditional way to document milestones.  I have a blog, each year on their birthday I to a picture/video DVD, and I take things like invitations and cards and put them in a scrapbook.

  • I have memory boxes for both girls where I just throw in stuff like birthday invites and baby announcements and I've been printing the blog every year as a book and I count those as "baby books".  :)

  • I never did a baby book for my kids either.  I felt a little guilty about it for awhile but I've gotten over it.  ;)
  • No baby book here either.   I have a ton of pics of Nicholas.  I'm embarrassed to admit I don't take nearly as many pictures of Ava as I did of Nicholas.  We had family photos taken when Nicholas was 16 months (before Ava came along) and I wonder if she'll ask "Hey where am I?"  when she sees those pictures on the wall.  Guess it's time for some updated family photos.

  • I have a beautiful baby book but the only thing in it are his hand/foot prints from birth, and various memorobilia.  I have never written in it.  I still intend to one day, as I really enjoyed looking at my baby book, growing up (still do!).  I do have a zillion photos (most digital), jotted down milestones, and kept a blog for the first 21  months of his life, which I intend to print someday.

  • I know myself well enough that I knew there's no way I would keep up books for both of them.  I got a memory box and I put tons of stuff in there for them.  I actually need a second one because between them, the one I have is overflowing.
