RE: swim suits at the splash park

If you wear regular clothes at the splash park, are you staying out of the water or do you just get wet in them? I stay out of the spray as long as possible (in part because of thre baby), but DD and Zee inevitably want me to run around and chase them through the sprinklers. Strange because anywhere else they don't care what I'm doing as long as I put food out for them, lol. I'm always pretty soaked by the time we leave so I can't imagine wearing street clothes. I usually wear board shorts and a bikini top, oh and there's a baby strapped to my chest as well. Wink It seems most of the moms I see at Brushy Creek with younger kids are in swimwear, but not so much if they have school age kids.
So do your kids play pretty independently, or do you just change before you go home?

Re: RE: swim suits at the splash park

  • Last year I wore my swimsuit with bike shorts so no one had to see my thunder thighs.

This year I will wear my tankini top and the swim skirt type thing I bought.  I then sit on a towel in my car.  I know other moms the other day in a post said they wear their street clothes, but I know that I will get wet, so I just put on the swim clothes.  L sometimes plays independently, but I can't guarantee that.

  • @Rosie- I wonder if the prevalence of street clothes was because it was a weekend? I've only been during the week.

I do see a lot of mom's in rash guards and board shorts, too, but to me those are still swim clothes.
re: other people seeing us in swimwear- I'm pretty sure everybody else there is either too preoccupied with what they look like or too busy chasing their kids (or both!) to even notice what anybody else looks like! I guarantee that I'm not checking out other moms thinking "Hold up on that fast food, by the looks of you you've had enough!" If anything I'm wondering the secret of the fit moms, lol.
  • I do the board shorts too (and my bathing suit/tankini top). I definitely get wet when we go.
  • I wear shorts and a tank top and avoid the direct sprays.  I'll run around with Layna but dodge the water while she's running straight through.

  • We went to Brushy Creek sprinkler park on Friday and I wore my bikini under my clothes, but I never did take off my tank top and shorts. I went in the water a little with my 10 month old, but my 3 1/2 year old was playing with the other kids.

I saw a lot of moms with swimsuits on, but I also saw a lot of moms with just regular clothes on. I think it is just a personal preference. Or if you plan on getting in the water or not.

  • I loathe getting my regular clothes wet, I always have. I don't plan or not plan on getting wet =)

This.  I either wear capri pants or a skirt.  My legs get wet, but not my clothes.  :)

  • I'm puffy wuffy and wear my swimskirt and swim top (or rashgaurd).

there's no way I could not get wet. My kid plays alone, but loves to come get me and run through the water with him.

I don't care what other people think of me in my swim suit. my kiddo loves me and loves to play so as long as my arse isn't hanging out I don't care :)
