Do you plan on doing anything differently next time? Like, did you have a c-section, and next time you want to try for a v-bac, or you didn't have meds, but you would like to next time or vice versa?

I had the epi, and I think I am going to do it again! I had such a calm delivery and I feel like the meds were a part of that. Not only that, but I was scared that I would have an adverse reaction to the epi, but now that I know I didn't, I feel even better about meds next time around.

I went med-free, and would totally do it the same way again next time. In fact, I'd probably go for a home birth, if possible, since my next labor is pretty likely to be faster!

I went natural, except for a squirt of pitocin at 9.5cm. I remember transition being truly brutal and I kind of wonder how it would have went if I'd had an epidural. I do think that I'll try to go natural again next time, though.

I had an epi also and I'll be getting it again. I know each time could be different but I had an awesome epi and like you said, I really felt relaxed & calm. I was asleep for 2 hours all the way up to pushing time. lol. And was able to move my legs & up & walking around really quickly. So yes I'll be doing the epi next time.

I really wanted a med free delivery but with all of my complications I wasn't able to. I am really hoping that next time is different. Med free will be my goal.

i had GD so i was induced. next time i'd like to be allowed to go into labor on my own because those pit contractions were no joke. hopefully i'd also be able to hold out longer for the epi because it didn't have a great reaction to it and they had to really dope me up to get everything numb. the downside was they had to turn it down and my pit back up when it came time to push because i was too numb and not pushing effectively. and then as an added bonus, i had a 2nd degree tear. i'd love to not do that again! Wink

Epi all the way! I'd try and get it sooner even next time... I was at 8cm when I got it. Afterwards = heaven!

I was 11 days past due and was induced, I went till I was 9 1/2 cm before I got my epi I tried to go natural but it was over 24 hrs being awake with intence contractions I didn't think I could emotionally or physically go any further right after the epi i felt great and got strength I ended up pushing for 2 hrs. I had a great experience and glad I made the decisions I did with the first but my next one I think I will get the epi sooner.

I was planning on getting the epi, but I guess I progressed to quickly! The nurses checked me at 4cm, then not again until 10cm (which was only 2 1/2 hours later).... I got one dose of Stadol because I was too scared to push without anything!

I honestly wouldn't get the Stadol again, I didn't like how it made me kind of loopy. Although I went (mostly) drug-free this time, Honestly, I'll probably get the epidural the next time!

I had a c/s this time b/c he was breech. Assuming future babies cooperate and turn head down when momma asks nicely Wink

I was on the fence about getting an epi and really nervous about it. I ended up getting one and (as you can see in my siggy) I loved it! I will definitely get it next time. I had an emergency c-section and am not sure yet if I'll attempt a VBAC or not... I'm leaning towards not.

LOVED LOVED LOVED my epi! I labored to 7cm on pitocin having contractions but not really feeling them. Broke my water then in instant pain! Got the epi and loved my entire labor. I was able to relax and spend time witall my friends and family. I would totally do it again! 1ht

spinal was great after labor! my c/s was scheduled but i went into labor and avoided going in for 6 hours thinking it would go away and i could go in for my scheduled the next morning! she was born 12 hrs ahead of schedule

next time id like to vbac for a shorter recovery time and ill get me an epi!

I wanted to go natural, but ended up being induced at 37 weeks due to high blood pressure that just came on out of the blue at 35 weeks (I was on bedrest for those two weeks in between). With the crazy pit contractions and all the other drugs I was on for the BP I got the epi and it really relaxed my body and helped me progress quicker.

I think I'm going to just play it by ear next time and see how the whole pregnancy and labor goes.

I'd love to into labor on my own, but who knows what will happen.

I had a great experience with my epidural (and previous anesthesia) & would do it again. Kudos to those who do med-free; just not for me.

i went med-free and will do it again. i had an amazing experience at the birth center and while the pain was excruciating, it was worth it to be able to deliver at a birth center with not even an IV hooked up to me. i'm not really a hospital loving person. at the birth center my baby never left my side and i loved being able to get up and go home the same day i got there. so for me i dont consider meds an option since they don't offer them at the birth center.

Now that I've had both experiences if I was to do it a 3rd time, which I'm not, I would go med free home birth. With my second it was so "easy" I could have done it at home. I wanted to leave a few hours after I had him but had to wait 24 to get the midwifes permission.

I had to be induced with DS, and frankly I really hope that never happens again. It sucked. I was on Pitocin for 9 hours, and I wasn't dilating at all, so they switched me to Cervadil and I went from 0-60 in 1/2 hour. I had originally planned for a med-free labor and delivery, but I opted for the epi around hour 19. I hadn't slept in almost 30 hours (to top it off, the attending OB gave me Ambien to help me sleep, but that made it 10x worse with the Cervadil), and I was afraid if I didn't get some sleep I wouldn't have enough energy to push. Even though I beat myself up about it for a few months, I know now that I made the right decision. Even so, I would like to try again for a med-free birth the next time around. I had some unpleasant reactions to the epi, and that's what I was afraid of in the first place.

I had and emergency csection because she wasn't fitting to come out. My dr said they would allow vbac but that if my next baby was measuring big, they wouldn't recommend it. So it depends on the size of my next baby if I try for a vbac or not, but I'm mentally prepared for a repeat csec.

I think I could have gone without an epi but I was so worried about her health a safety that I glad I got an epi so I didn't have to worry about the pain. I will most def have an ept next time as I'm sure I'm going to give birth to a toddler to make up for K being only 4.9 lbs

Now I was Group B Strep positive and had to get the antibiotics. If you had come back positive for Group B Strep would you have had to deliver at the hospital?

I am very happy with my experience this time around (I had a bit of oxytocin and a dose of the one-hour pain reliever), and I would gladly repeat it. The only difference I would make is that I would not lay (lie?) on my back to push!! I wish I had been with-it enough to tell someone I wanted to sit up/squat on the bed. The L+D beds all had squat bars, so it was totally do-able. It went so fast though, the thought didn't occur to me at the right time. Next time!!

I had an emergency csection with DS1 and a VBAC with DS2. When we go for #3, I'll be going for a VBAC (is that still what it's called when it's already been done once?) with an epi again.

Assuming I can find a midwife who would do one, I'm hoping to do a home birth next time around. If not that, a birthing center. I'd have a different cast of characters with me who can provide better support for a med free birth.

Also, next time? I'd like the whole process not to last so d@mn long! Wink

yeah the birth center is associated with the hospital and its just across the parking lot so if you need to go to the hospital due to any complications of if you change your mind and want an epi they can just bring you over and your midwife can still deliver you baby. that's whats so amazing about it because its almost like a home birth, but with the added security of knowing a hospital is right there just in case
