FP bubble mower doesnt blow bubbles?

Anyone have this happen? I'm totally annoyed. I know I followed the instructions correctly & heard the 'glug glug' as the bubble stuff went in. And a bubble will start to be blown but rarely makes it out the side without popping first. I think after DD walked around the driveway & through our whole yard, maybe 5 total bubbles let loose. I even tried to refill the reservoir a couple times, I pushed it to see if maybe she was pushing too slowly, etc... and of course most of the bottle of bubble stuff is even gone now. I didn't see any leaking out the bottom inthe driveway although it could have in the lawn I guess...

Unfortunately I bought them at buy buy baby like an idiot- 40 min away, in an area I rarely get to so returning them would be a huge PITA (I haven't tried the second one and am hoping for more success although if one blows bubbles & the other doesn't, then that could just set up fighting which I was trying to avoid by buying two...)

Any ideas?

  • I'm curious to read the responses because I just bought one today too (at Buybuy Baby no less). It doesn't blow out the bubbles unless you run really really fast.

  • FP bubble mower stinks!  In my experience, at least.  DS' doesn't work unless you practically run with it.

I've had similar problems but I did learn that the bubbles that come with the mower are very watered down and weak. When I put other bubbles in it, we did get more bubbles coming out.
  • Ours does not blow many bubbles either, even with different bubble solutions.  Honestly though, my little man still plays with it a lot.  I am far more disappointed in the lack of bubbles than he is. :)

  • Try different bubbles. Also, we would get "bubble buildup" and have to rinse the insides out by running water through it for a few minutes. That always seemed to help some. I don't even know if ours works anymore- we haven't gotten it out this year for DD, guess we should. It's only like, 5 years old now... ;)
  • The bubble mower blows. The solution sucks, but even with other solution, you have to walk very fast and push down hard to get it to work. So disappointing!

  • Thanks all! Will try different bubbles then...and we were kind of laughing b/c I was way excited about the bubbles but of course LOs don't even know it is supposed to make bubbles so what do they care?! LOL.

  • The only way I was able to get ours to blow bubbles was if I pushed it hard.  LO still loves it.

  • We love our bubble mower and have had it for about 2.5 years.  Bought it for DS when he was about 14-15 months old.  As he got older, the bubbles came out faster probably because he pushed it faster and kept all the wheels on the ground.  I agree that the FP bubbles aren't the greatest but we just use the cheap ones from the dollar store and they're fine.   DS still plays with it every week while he "helps" daddy mow the lawns.   Oh - and the inside does get gunky - I just hose it out and use my hand to manually turn the bubble blower thing on the side.   When you pick up the mower, the bubble should leak out the front of it - we learned that the hard way when DS was about 2 and wanted to carry it everywhere.  Lost a lot of bubbles that way.
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

  •  I was horribly dissapointed in it too. I feel as though FP has had a LOT of time to perfect this toy as I had one when I was a kid! Seriously? They can't figure out how to make this work? Anyways! My DS still likes to push it around so we drained all the bubbles and now he mows the carpet in the house!

  • I was not impressed with this toy either. The bubbles don't come out unless you pretty much run with it. My LO just started walking, and the handle is kind of at a weird angle so she can't really push it on her own either. Maybe when she gets a little older or more stable walking she'll at least like pushing it around, but I'm glad this was a present and not something I went out and bought.

If you read the reviews, most people will tell you the same thing, that it doesn't make the bubbles. Also, you can't buy not bottle of the bottles, they don't offer them. You have to save the bottle and just refill that over and over.it sucks, because I got my for free and the person who gave it to me didn't include the bubble bottle so I couldn't tell you if ours worked or not. DS still loves to push the mower around, though so we made it an inside toy.
