Boat ride while pregnant?

So I have a friends bachelorette party Scheduled for mid August which is going to be on a yaht ride for 3 hours out on the lake. I will be JUST getting into my 2nd trimester and I wasn't sure if anyone has heard of any rules for being able to go on boats? I know there's plane rules...but I just want to be sure.

Re: Boat ride while pregnant?

  • As long as you feel up to it, I don't see any reason why you couldn't go.

The plane thing is more later in pregnancy because of the change in pressure or something.

  • I think that is perfectly fine.  As long as it is a large enough boat that it isn't jarring you to death, I'd go and have a great time!!

  • Should be totally fine.   I would think the only worry would be falls - so just be careful with your footing if it is wavy or the boat is moving.    Have fun!

    It is totally fine.

I have gone on several boat rides the past few weeks and I'm almost 37 weeks ;)

    Have fun!

  • I would think a big boat like that is fine.  We have a ski boat and my dr said not to ride on it while pregnant because of the waves and constant bouncing, but it would be way less on a yacht.  Enjoy!
  • I went boating while PG.  No problems as long as you are not walking around if it is wavy because you would not want to fall.

  • I've boated my entire pregnancy on something smaller than a yacht :) On a big enough boat, you will hardly feel the waves. My baby is perfectly fine and dandy - we go out with my dad as our captain and he obviously knows to keep away from hard bumps.
  • Thank You guys, i'm going to confirm w/ my doc but i'm pretty sure I'll be going! :)

  • When I was about 17-18 weeks we went to Japan for BIL's wedding and one of the events was a booze cruise.  I didn't even think about it being a problem and it wasn't for me.  I  didn't have any motion sickness issues.

I'm sure as long as it isn't speed boating or something your should be okay.
