Yes all are welcome! We have ladies from all over the state. We even have some ladies that relocated to other states but are still with us.
Welcome to the board! If you get a chance do a little intro. It helps us get to know you and vice versa. I will warn you that weekends get a little slow around here but activity picks up during the week.
Thanks Dawnies I posted asking for a rec for a daycare and no one responded so I was wondering if maybe this was mainly a group of Seattlites! I'm in my late 30's and have a 3 year old son. I've been a stay at home mom and just accepted a job offer. I didn't expect to find a job so quickly, so while I do have family that will watch my son, I'd still like to find a day care that he can go for a couple of days a week. Hope someone can give me some advice!
Opps Sorry. I didn't know it was taboo. Any advice on how to start looking, other than blindly going to look at places? I've looked at two so far and neither were a good fit and I feel like I'm on a wild goose chase.
When I was doing interviews for full time positions I did a search of places that were near our home then called. I asked about things that were important to me like if they allowed cloth diapers, their daily schedule, cost, etc. If I didn't get a good vibe from the director, I didn't visit. I did visit 3 places that fit our criteria. I will say that while visiting one location I expressed concerns over a teacher and how she was treating the children in her classroom. I am glad I did because she then was dismissed. If you have any concerns when visiting don't hesitate to speak up, it might be a good thing.
Just saying hi and welcome. This board is open for all areas. I'm in Tacoma. There are far fewer ladies from our area here so sometimes rec's are harder to get. But it is a great place for support.

Oh I don't think it's "taboo" I just think that sometimes people don't want to put that out there. Don't feel like it was a taboo question to ask or anything!
I'm in Auburn - so not quite as far south as you. I don't have any child care recs in the Puyallup area, unfortunately
What I can recommend is childcare.org. I'm not sure if you're still in King Co. in Puyallup, but if you are, give them a try. They were immensely helpful during my search. And - if you call then instead of doing the online dealio, it's free. They'll talk to you, find out what you're looking for, then email or fax you a list
Re: Is this board for Seattle only or also for surrounding areas (Tacoma/Puyallup)?
