My trick or treating vent

I am suprised (not really sure why) at how many rude kids their are!!! We had several kids come up and grab handfuls of candy. Not one time did a parent say, "no, only 1 pc". I finallly was getting ticked and started telling them, just 1 pc or I won't have enough for everyone  else. And rarely did you get a thank you from them. Okay vent over. :)

  • I guess these are good reminders for us as parents. Our children will not be rude trick or treaters!

  • I thought the same thing.  We weren't at our house we were in North Carolina but this one group of kids came up and the one little girl grabbed candy and was gone before I even figured out what she was.  I also thought the same thing about "Um HELLO!  A thank you would be nice!"

  • cmeon, yea the kids that came up and just took one, dh or I would say "you can have another". It didn't happen very often but there were a few sweet kids.

And we did have 1 couple (mid 20's) come up with their 3-5 month old getting candy.  Dh was like "seriously???!!!!"

  • I am going to teach Katie to go to your house and take lots of candy and not say thank you.  :)

We miss you on 6-12.  I am going to have to move on over soon.

  • we actually had nice trick or treaters this year. I even commented on it that we didn't have the kids that try to take the whole bowl like last year.  Of course my car got egged last year, so maybe this year was the exception!
  • I have to say, I'm proud of the kids in our neighborhood. This is my first halloween in NYC and I don't think there was a single child who didn't say thank you!  Most kids were older (middle school or jr high age)... but I didn't mind so much b/c most all made an effort to dress up and all said either "trick or treat" or "happy halloween" and I think all said "thank you". Two actually talked to me for a couple of minutes about the kids they saw out.  I was surprised.
  • TG I had the total opposite experience. The parents made the kids be conservative and made them turn around to say thank you if they did not hear it themselves. But we did not have ONE kid come by w/o some adult in tow. And we went through 20 pounds of candy in an hour.
  • We had kids who were being driven around ring our doorbell at 10:15pm!!!!

WTF- the parents were encouraging this!

  • So am I a greedy parent because I took DD trick or treating?  We only went to 3 or 4 houses but I did eat her candy ::::hangs head in shame:::

No, we took dd to some houses too. Somethings she can eat and we will give it to her. Its the parents that have a 3 month old and gong house to house....you know that 3 month old ain't (or shouldn't i guess) eat the reeces peanut butter cups!! lol.
