When we registered last weekend we registered for the chico ultrasoft carrier. I was jw what carrier yall registered for... We won't use it that often but want something that will work for when we do use it and that is easy to use but not very expensive

Re: what baby carrier did you register for?
I currently have a baby bjorn that was a hand me down, and an eddie bauer sling that was an impulse buy, but I registered for the moby.
ps: can you tell i'm into "baby wearing" much?

is the moby easy to use?
There is a definite learning curve to the Moby. Once you have the hang of it, it isn't bad. It comes with a good instruction manual and there are a ton of how to videos available on youtube.
I have an absurd number of baby carriers...
Baby Bjorn Air -- eh. It was okay in the beginning because it was easy to use, but it killed my back, even when DS was tiny. It got packed away by the time he was 3 months old.
Moby -- LOVE for the newborn phase. It's intimidating, but surprisingly easy to wrap/use. I just watched a few YouTube videos and practiced at home. DS was snug, secure, and fell asleep every time he was in it. But by 4-5 months, he was just too heavy for it.
Ergo -- LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. I can still carry DS in it. So comfortable. We didn't get it until he was almost 6 months, though, so I don't know how well it works for newborns (they make a separate newborn insert, but its reviews are so-so).
Peanutshell Sling -- HATED. I never felt like DS was secure. Only tried it a handful of times before packing it away.
Mei Tei -- this is my newest carrier; bought it from a friend at a garage sale. It's still going to be hot as anything here in Sept, so I was looking for something a bit lighter/cooler than my other carriers. Can't wait to try it out.
I love my Ergo. I think I loved it more the older DS got. DH still carries DS in it sometimes. I just cannot seem to carrying him like that anymore.
I liked my Peanut Shell, but only for nursing and when I was trying to do things around the house.
I have a Moby too and liked it, but it can get hot. I preferred it in the cold months.
I am considering a Mei Tei this time around or another Ergo.
I will say that the first time around, I didn't use one for very long. Mainly the first three months when he wanted to be held 24/7 and if I wanted a chance at eating something during the day, I did it while wearing him. I used the chicco (infantimo or whatever kind is the same thing) and cursed myself every day for not spending more on something better. It was torture for both of us getting him in that thing.
This time around, I will probably use it much longer just because of having two. I have to get ds1 in and out of school three times a week somehow without lugging the carseat up and down the stairs, carrying ds1's stuff and making sure he doesn't fall down the stairs.
Same.
