DeKalb County Pediatricians/Or nearby Stone Mountain

Please refer a pediatrician. I am clueless, FTM and I would like a pediatrician that works with DeKalb Medical and that will allow me to come in and interview them b4 hand to see if we are on the same medical wave. Since I am having a boy maybe a Male Dr it really doesn't matter. I just want someone who can understand I am a FTM and may be a little cautious and paranoid and who will be patient and understanding with me. I would prefer a private to small practice don't want a BIG practice where we never see the same Dr twice. Thanks in advance to all who reply.

    We use Dekalb Pediatrics...we typically see Dr. Pollock, but all the doctors are great.  It's an all female practice.

    We don't use them, but friends of ours just switched their 6 month old son to DeKalb Pediatric and are very pleased.

    We are at a fairly big practice (Children's Medical Group) and we have a primary doctor that we see.  So all of DS's wellness visits and even some of his sick visits are with the same doctor.  Sometimes for sick visits we just see whoever has an open appt that day.  Just call the practices that you are interested in and ask to come in for a meet and greet.  Some practices may do a group info meeting, ours did a private morning appointment.  Even if you pick a doctor that you think is great, but later come to find out your styles don't really match, it's ok to switch to another doctor within the practice or switch practices entirely.

     Privileges at DeKalb Medical. If you go to this site https://www.dekalbmedical.org/Main/PhysicianDirectory.aspx and search for pediatrics under affiliated doctors, you should be able to see if the doctor you are looking  at has privileges there.  Most pediatricians also have privileges at Children's Healthcare, either Egleston or Scottish Rite.

    Are you delivering at DeKalb Medical?  It may be that your particular pediatrician or group will not see the baby in the hospital.  That's pretty common for a lot of hospitals and groups.  Your baby will be seen by a hospital pediatrician until discharge and then you will go see your regular pediatrician about 3 days later.

    Yes, I am having my baby at DeKalb Medical... I was under the impression I had to find a Doc affiliated with place of birth, I truly am clueless. I think I am getting so nervous bc I have 60 days to go and feel like I am so ill prepared thank u for taking time out to give me so much info and references.
