So we, like Lisa, are also doing Very Hungry Caterpillar for Henry's first birthday party (I hope you don't mind, Lisa, it was actually an idea I have before H was even born when I saw plates on clearance and wanted to buy them, even though a party wouldn't have been a long time away!). Anyway, I am making a birthday banner for the party, and need help deciding on the final detail of ribbons (yes, I'm aware that it's silly to obsess about something like ribbons, but this is what I do when it's summer and I'm off work, do fun projects!
).
I have attached the banner together with one long white ribbon strung through the whole thing. But I also like the idea of it looking like each piece is tied together individually. Should I.....
A) Tie several multi-colored ribbons between each circle (I love how colorful this is, but worry that it's a) too girly, and b) takes away from the fact that it's supposed to be a caterpillar. Do you lose that effect with so many ribbons?)
Tie just one white ribbon between each circle, or maybe a white ribbon plus just one other color?
C) Don't tie any ribbons, leave it just strung on one long white ribbon.
Here is a pic of all three options progessively:
What do you think?
Re: birthday banner help
I see what you're saying about the colorful ribbon taking away from the banner being a caterpillar, but it is still my favorite. I love the colors too, and don't think it's too girly. You did a great job!
P.S. thanks for the tip on the pink lemonade in my other post....I came close to buying it prior to your suggestion but wasn't sure. It does look yummy so I may have to pick some up anyway
I love the multi color ribbons! I don't think it distracts from the banner, especially at a distance because your eyes will be drawn to read the letters.
I probably like it the best b/c J's Hungry Caterpillar Zoobie has multi color yarn on it's back and it is his favorite part, he always runs his hands over it while he's falling asleep.
I think the multicolored ribbon looks really good.
The theme is really cute too!

This is me, too - and OMG it's so cute!!!
another vote for keeping it simple
they are all cute but I think I prefer the simplicity of C and i think it's less distracting from the rest of it.
