Hi, there!
Just had DD2 on Monday and DD1 will be 2 next week. We came home from the hospital on Wednesday and DH has been off this week. He goes back next week, so I'm on my own! DD1 has been pretty good with the baby- constantly wants to hold her, give her toys, gives (and takes away) her pacifier, but still wants a lot of attention, naturally.
Any tips or things that helped you settle in once you got home and were on your own? Thanks for any advice- I am really nervous about being on my own!!
Re: Only here for about a week, but any advice on first week home??
Hi! I'm very new here, but I can relate. My husband was supposed to have two weeks off, but there have been some emergencies so he's stuck working. I'm lucky that he works from home, but in general I have to try to manage by myself and keep our toddler from bothering him.
I've found that my son LOVES his little sister (constantly kissing/hugging her, etc) but doesn't love the lack of attention. My parents and teenage sisters have been great and keep taking him to their house to go outside, see the chickens, etc, but I know I can't always ask them to do that. Yesterday when they had him, I spent a few hours looking up toddler activities, writing down ones I knew he'd like, and going to the store to pick up all the materials I'd need.
The poor little guy has been bored out of his mind because I've been so busy with the baby, and so he's been acting out a lot. Today I mixed some dried beans with a pack of sequins I bought for $1 at Target, and set it on the table with some measuring spoons, a ladle, several cups, and two little pails I also bought for $1 at Target. He was SO excited, and spent almost an hour playing with it. I tried to keep the activity going by adding some of his trucks/toy animals. I'm also going to try making this rainbow rice:

This foam window thing looks easy/fun too:

And finally, my little boy likes trucks, so I will probably try to prepare this garage sometime when he's asleep:

Anyway, my best advice would be to keep some of your daughter's favorite books handy, and see if you can find any activities she'd like online, and get the materials for those things now.
