Fisher Price Rock 'n Play Sleeper

If you had/have this, how long did you use it?  Did you use it in place of a bassinet or feel like you also needed something else in your room?  If you nursed, is it easy to get to during the night or does it sit too low?  We picked one up since I have heard so many people rave about it.  Our bed sits up pretty high and I haven't opened it up yet, but was wondering what your experience has been.  Thanks!

I love this thing, we still use it to put her in it while we get ready in the morning, she watches her signing video.

easy to get her in and out of in the middle of the night so I can nurse and put her back in and rock her back to sleep, our bed sits low, so we didnt have an issue with the height. cannot recommend this thing enough.  We just used this, no need for a bassinet or anything.

  • We used the RnP for Max for about the first 10 weeks or so.  I liked that it was on an incline.  I put it right next to my  bed and it was easy to use with nursing.  Max is now in the CoSleeper.  We still use the RnP daily though for a place for him to hang out.  He likes it :)

  • You will use it, we used it for the first 3 months and I would have used it for longer.

  • We just stopped using ours within the last month, when he started rolling over and trying to push off with his legs to get out of it. So basically, when he started trying to be more mobile is when we stopped. I probably could have used it longer if we buckled him in, but I took them off to wash them and hadn't put them back.
  • Hey Miranda!

We bought the RNP for Olivia because we're currently trying to sell our house and we don't have a 3rd BR for her. Until recently, we've had it next to our bed at night, and she was sleeping fine. I would nurse her, then put her back down. (Our bed sits high up, so I did have to lean down kind of low to reach her, but it wasn't too much of an issue.)

Sometimes she would fuss in the middle of the night with her hands and wake herself up. This persisted, so I started putting her in the SwaddleMe blanket (which up until now she hated) to give her some snuggly comfort at night. (She always let on that she hated being swaddled, but now she seems to enjoy it.) I tried swaddling her in the RNP, but she didn't like this. So, we moved the PNP up to our room this weekend. I now put her in the SwaddleMe and she has STTN for the past few nights in the PNP.

I still have the RNP in our room in case she doesn't want to be in the PNP, and I still put her in it to hang out while I'm doing things upstairs. She likes it fine, but I think my child is just extra 'jittery' and is going through a phase where she would rather sleep elsewhere. I am glad we bought it though, because the incline is nice! Sorry to ramble! :)

  • LOVE this.  My DD just turned 6 months, and we still use it almost everyday.  At this point, it is at just the right angle for her to hold her own bottle (on my watch).  I, too, use it for her to sit in while I'm getting dressed for the day.  Early on, I used it instead of a bassinet, and she loved to nap in it as opposed to the crib.  A definite must-have IMHO.
  • We're still using it and I don't see us making any changes to our sleep arrangement anytime soon.  Lila liked it so much that we packed away our co-sleeper within a few days of getting it.  I think it was especially nice for her b/c she was born with so much congestion that it helped her to sleep on an incline.  She co-sleeps part-time and then the other part of the time she sleeps in the rocker next to my bed (she is actually in the rocker for most of the night, until she wakes to nurse and then from there it just depends on if she needs to snuggle with me or if she will go back into the rocker, which she often does without a fight).  Our bed sits at a standard height, I guess, and the rocker sits a little lower, but it's easy to get her out.  Since an actual arm's reach co-sleeper is beyond easy and convenient to use, I think I was a little spoiled by it and at first I did think the rocker was a PITA (lol... I know that sounds so lazy) but since it was the only place she would sleep for a decent stretch of time I quickly got over that.  Also, if you've never used a co-sleeper and don't have that comparison to make, I don't think you would find it any harder to use than a regular bassinet or PNP.  Overall, we've definitely gotten our money's worth with this purchase.
