Success after IF

WWSAIFD?

Okay so I am finding out that our insurance may or may not change next year....

The good news is I have IF coverage covered at 100% with co-pays, i will still have IF coverage next year but it's a high deductable plan. So, I would pay up to 4k out of pocket. We want another baby, but not sure timing wise.

Would you go for IVF before the end ofthe year with a single embryo transfer? I can't have twins again...

So much stuff flying around in my head right now... I need some more input...

if you did a single embryo transfer, how did it turn out? Did it take more than once... anything you can add.

  • I would at least try while you have the better coverage, especially since with SET it could take longer (but not necessarily). Although I don't have twins so harder for me to say how difficult it would be to have another at that time frame with twins, but (assuming this pregnancy ends with a take home baby) ours will be about 2 years apart which was WAY closer than we would have chosen but we're very happy with it now.

We did SETs. The first failed but it was a FET and a really crappy embryo that probably shouldn't have been frozen in the first place. Our first fresh SET is the dude in my siggy.

    Your girls are so beautiful!

We did a SET for our first and only IVF and it was successful. We'll do as many single FETs as it takes for #2. I know my clinic is a huge proponent of single embryo transfers, to the point where they waive your storage fees for any frozen embryos if you do a SET. I believe they gave us a 60 percent chance transferring one, and a 50 percent chance transferring two, but of course a much higher risk of twins with two. I know the culture of IVF tends toward transferring two, but I think that will be the practice less and less with certain patients who have a high chance of success.

As for what to do, that's tough. What issues are you weighing along with the cost? Chances of success now versus later? (Are you close to 35?) Or whether your girls are old enough for you to feel comfortable having another? It's really a tough call, I know. We're thinking about #2 now as well, and DS is 19 months.

After 7 failed IUIs, IVF w/ ICSI worked!!

I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.

And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!

  • I'd go for it now with the better coverage. Then if it doesn't work at least you gave it a shot at a better price. We did a SET (not by choice, it was all we had) and we were successful the first time.
After THREE years, our IVF miracle is here!!!

  • Well the cost, are the girls ready, hell am I ready... I can't really go anywhere without a stroller now. I just have so many worries, I am sure we will need to get a van too. We have an SUV, I think we could get one more back there, but tight fit.

Holy jeezel, so much to think. We were going to try on our own first, well it's not like we prevent and I am still not pregnant so I think we will need IVF.  Man oh man.

thanks for the SET success stories and I keep thinking I only had one stick and split, so of course that's on my mind.

  • No advice but I sure hope you have it easier the next time around. I read your posts everyday when you were pregnant with the girls. You were such a trooper, I vowed never to complain while I was pregnant because of you.

  • I would try at least one cycle with the good insurance.  It has taken me a lot longer to TTC #2 than I expected, but I also only have 1.
