I know this gets asked all.the.time, but you know how it is-- you pass those posts when it's not your time yet. Well...it's our time. Leah is starting to ask about climbing out of the crib (not doing it, mind you....just asking questions about how one might do it...interesting).
She will need a whole bedroom set as she just has a crib, a changing table, and an antique baby armoire (which we will take out because it has lambs and stuff on it). I'd like to buy a twin bed, a full-sized dresser, and a nightstand. We have no furniture-buying experience at all as everything we own has come from Ikea. I like Ikea, but I'd like to get something a little more solid to last her forever. We're on a budget but I'm willing to spend more for something that will hold up and last. Any suggestions? I'm in south Dayton and willing to drive a little to look in other areas.
Re: Where did you get your "big kid" furniture?
I really love Ashley Furniture (there's one in tri county) I purchased my bedroom set from there a few years ago... it's gorgeous, solid and was very decently priced.
We recently transitioned DS to a big boy room but ended up giving him the furniture in the guest room so we didn't need to purchase new. But that's my go to for furniture in the last few years. HTH
We hit every furniture store that exists in the Cincinnati area. We ended up purchasing a Ashley set from Cole furniture in Mt. Orab. It's probably a drive for you but we got a twin bed, mattress, dresser, chest, night stand and mirror for $850. We couldn't beat it!
You might also want to check Furniture Fair in Tri-County and hit up their clearance section.

We are in the same boat. I haven't actually looked at anything except Value City and I was not impressed at all. I plan on looking at Ashley, Furniture Fair, Haverty's (although I am prepared to not find anything in our budget), Morris, and a few discount furniture places. We originally were thinking to go with Woodcraft and get unfinished furniture, but I just don't have the desire to do all that work myself.
We plan on buying around Labor Day and are hoping to hit a good sale that weekend.
