Trouble TTC

XP: 12 day follie check

Looks like I have a nice plump follicle on my right ovary - 20 mm today. My lining is only 5.8 so they gave me Estrace to start taking tonight. We go in Sunday morning for the IUI - bright and early at 7am.

So, the trigger is tonight at 8:45 pm. We are supposed to be at the Rockies baseball game with an event that should have about 50 friends or so. I'm debating if I try to do the trigger shot in the bathroom at the stadium? Or if we just leave early. I'd hate to get caught either with the bag search on the way in to the game, or while in the stall. I've never given myself a shot before and I'm  sure I'll be freaked out. Thoughts?

  • Wow!! Good luck!!

Um, I haven't given myself shots before, but I have given all of my animals shots, and I don't know how I would react... I doubt that they will look hard enough to find a needle in your purse. Plus it is for medical reasons. Last time we went to a Rockies game- it was no big deal to be searched.

I guess it is up to you- what time does the game start? You could always drink a beer right before for liquid courage!!!

Don't I wish! Seriously, I was thinking I should drink a beer for celebration after finishing the injection. LOL!

What kind of shots are you giving to your animals, and what kind of animals do you have? I'm curious!

  • Personally, I wouldn't do the shot at the game.  I'd be way too paranoid about it being misconstrued by security, or someone in the bathroom, plus I'd be paranoid about contaminating the needle before the injection in the icky stadium bathroom.

    Good luck with everything!

  • Yeah- that's a good reason to celebrate too! Could your DH help? They might have the family bathrooms there- although I can't remember if they do.

I have horses and dogs. I have given vaccinations to all the animals. Dogs get sub-Q shots, and horses get IM shots. My horses have also gotten many other types of meds from me. It amazes me that horses even survive in the wild, they are really fragile. I have given so many shots, I can't even count. Usually anything from antibiotics to tranquilizers. I have never given an IV med though.

Good luck tonight!! And Sunday- so exciting!

  • Limpetfan - I didn't even think about that. Yeah, the idea of dropping the syringe and then having a dirty needle is enough to freak me out. Coming home after two hours at the game is fiiiine by me!

MarlaSinger - Very cool that you have horses! I'm a big animal lover. But we live in the city so we only have one dog. One of these days we'd love to move out to the foothills or mountains to get a little more space and have a couple of horses. MH would love to have some cattle too. I'm not sure why b/c we aren't ranchers or farmers, but could be fun.

  • I would do it at the game in the bathroom stall.  Keep the ovidrel in the box - in its sealed container- pack a bandaid and a few alcohol wipes.  Just make sure that you don't open it until you are ready to do the shot.  I think you will want to get it over so quickly - you will not have time to hesitate.   And once you do it you will be so happy its over and that it didn't even hurt - you can go back and enjoy the game!   Just put the cover back on and put it back in the box to bring home with you.    If for some reason when you get searched and asked about it - you explain to them that you have to give yourself this shot at 8:45 tonight.    GL!

  • Thanks for all the advice. I did it at the game and it was surprisingly easy. We were Club level, so I went in the family restroom and locked the door behind me. I had my own sink, own counter AND they even had one of those red boxes for syringe disposal. It was the perfect set up! I just reminded myself that lots of people do this all the time and it was over before I knew it. Phew!

Thanks again for all the advice and tips. Good luck to you all this cycle!
