Teething... tell me everything!

I wanna hear everything. Before and during the actual showing of teeth.

How did they act? how did they sleep? Did they eat less or more? Was their poop different? Fever? Coughing? Red Cheeks? chewing? when you felt their gums before... what did they feel like? how did you KNOW!?

DS is driving me nuts. I cant figure it out, thinking it has to be teething... I need to know what the heck is going on.

Thanks, ladies!

  • kind of all the above. :) Chewing their hands and drooling is most they do now. But Nicks cheeks get red and hot. Kimo drools all over the place and wants to put everything in his mouth. I am getting the sophie giraffes but have only given them teething rings so far. They haven't been screaming or anything ....yet.

  • DS popped his first tooth without us even realizing or knowing it!  Tooth #2 came a few weeks later and it was tons of drool, chewing on everything (definitely get Sophie!), red/warm cheeks, really cranky.  Looking back on that first tooth, he didn't sleep well for like 3-4 nights right before he popped it, but we just didn't know it was teeth.

I'm pretty sure he's working on a top tooth now too.  Same thing, except more cranky.  Honestly, I just give him some tylenol and I use the Humphries teething tablets and orajel, and it generally settles him down.

I don't recall a change in eating or diaper action with DS though...

  • DS' mouth is like a fountain. Just pours out drool nonstop. It's why I've purchased many drooler bibs because he soaks through every other kind of bib. These actually keep his clothes nice and dry. Aside from that, he was very fussy and didn't want to be put down for more than 5 minutes, which is unusual for him as he's pretty easygoing. His gums were red and swollen and last week we could feel the hard spots on the bottom and then see where the gums were splitting to let the teeth through. They're still only about halfway through, poor little guy. He nurses frequently because I think it feels good but is not as interested in his solids as he was before the teething.

He also totally gets excited when he sees the Tylenol bottle before bedtime. I hope I don't have a future pill popper on my hands.
