Did you see the mom who wrote an article saying she didn't like her daughter?? It was because she didn't meet any of her developmental milestones on time.

I didn't see that, but that is just awful. People can really suck sometimes.

All of this makes me so sad.
I was holding Ellie while they interviewed her on the Today show and literally almost cried. I can't even imagine..
I *so* wish this weren't true. Ugh... Ugh. And I have students who ask why we still teach "Women's Literature" and "Feminist Studies" classes. Because people like this exist. *Sigh*
Eh, people are people. The daughter is obviously idolizing her mom, like any child does. Unfortunately the mother's opinions are plastic surgery are drastically different from mainstream society. It's not as though she is giving her the breast implants now, at age 7. I agree that 16 is way too young but hopefully as she gets older and is more exposed to other ideas and people, she'll probably forget all about the boob job. It's not like I'm still pining for that pony I asked for at age 8.
If the Barbie mom treated her child like an accessory for Barbie's playhouse I might agree with the title to this thread. However, there are much much worse things out there are deserving of the title. There are plenty of us new moms that would love to be able to have a little nip/tuck around the tummy and hips to get our old body back. Many of us wont, maybe from cost or maybe from our ideas of social taboos.

Um... yeah. It was a joke. Yeesh.
I'm confused by you guys. This article isn't a joke. (Like, it's not from The Onion.) This woman's for real. Here's her website: https://www.reallifebarbie.com/ .
One of my former students said she had read about her somewhere else (maybe a Women's Studies class?) and her older daughters are already having procedures done. She has four daughters total.
And a quote from the little girl: "?I wanted a new computer, a holiday and a voucher for surgery. When I got it all, it was a dream come true. I can?t wait to be like Mummy with big boobs,? said Poppy. "
