NBR: half my electricity is working

So I woke up at 5 and noticed our alarm clock was off and went to the bathroom and the light wouldn't turn on, so I thought the power was out. Well come to find out not all of our power is out just certain areas. Like we could turn on the light in the kitchen but not the dining room and etc.?So we checked the breakers and turned them off and then on and had the city come out and check the power from the street to the house and its fine, so its something on our end, ugh, We have a electrican coming out in about a hour and I am praying it's not thousands of dollars of work, ugh. Anyone ever had this happen? TIA!

    The same thing happened to us once, but all we had to do was flip the circuit breaker, no money necessary.

    We had a real old house growing up!  Talk about a bummer Sad  They only had to fix the wiring on the part of the house that was down.  It was expensive but not as expensive as redoing it all.

    happened to us too but it ended up being the line from the street to the house so the city had to fix it.  We had our fridge on an extension cord into the living room so it would stay running!
