So frustrated! BF Moms please HELP!

I have done tons of research & comparisons of electric breast pumps (I will pump some of the time so DH can feed baby & I will also be going back to work full time) There are so many mixed reviews on some of the well known brands. I can't afford to buy a Medela or anything over $200, however, I don't want to cheap out & "get what I pay for". Can anyone suggest a pump that is both affordable & reliable & why You like it & don't? Thanks

I got the Playtex Petite Double Electric. I was only going to pump once in awhile but now I use it twice a day. It works great. I also know a mom who works full time and uses the pump as well (I got it at her recommendation.)

I got mine at Babies R Us and used our 20% off coupon. They also sell them at Target and Walmart.

EDIT: they sell them for under $70.

I couldn't afford anything over 100 bucks at all, and for a while I couldnt afford anything over 50 lol

i work part time and have a few different pumps. One is just a one sider that I use at home and the other is a double that I save for work. The one sider is the Evenflo: Simply Go and I love the suction, but it's not convenient for work at all, as you have to switch sides. The double that I have was 80 bucks and was the mipump from The First Years. It's not the most amazing thing, but it does it's job gently and quietly. At first I didn't like the softer suction, but for at work it's just fine as I can do a full pumping in 15 minutes maximum with it.

The downside to the mipump is that it's very picky with batteries. They have to be pretty full or else it will shut itself off like it broke (which scared me the first time it did that). I use rechargeables so my batteries weren't all the way full for use yet. On a good note I get about 2 weeks of pumping once a day with it before I have to recharge. The other pump I just leave plugged into the wall.

The evenflo i've had since about 4 wks pp and the mipump i've had for about a month now. Your budget seems to be a little higher than mine, so I don't think you'll have problems getting a slightly more expensive pump than I did that will work much better for you.

If you are planning to pump when you go back to work, then you really should invest in a decent electric pump. Formula will cost a lot more when you can't pump everyday because it takes too much time at work.

I love my Medela PISA. I would just start saving $20/wk from now until the time you go back to work and you should have enough to buy a pump by then.

Even the most expensive pumps are much less than a year's worth of formula. If you're working full time you'll need a really good double electric pump that is intended to be used a lot. I've seen people give up on breastfeeding because pumping at work didn't work out for them because they just had single electric pumps. Think about the long term costs as well.

I have the Hygeia Enjoye and I love it. It's a little cheaper than the medela pumps, but I think it was still over $100 (less than $200)

both target and BRU frequently have 20% off one item coupons that you could use to make a purchase of a nicer breastpump more affordable. If you used one of those, the medela PISA is only 225- only 25 over budget! And hey, if you are ever in delaware or new hampshire, no sales tax right? It will still be cheaper than formula as others have said and you really do need a good double electric pump if you are working full time. I see from your ticker that you are still pregnant. I would save the money for the pump and see if you can add to it since you will not need to buy one now. Also see how much a breast pump rental will cost you at the hospital and if your insurance will pay any portion of pump costs. A rental will probably be more over time but there is less initial investment and you get the freedom of not being tied to a pump you don't like. You get to try it out while you figure out what your needs are.

My Lactation Consultant only recommends Medela and Ameda Double Electric Pumps.

Ameda Purely Yours is only 159 on amazon. It is a really good pump. You can buy inexpensive gerber or evenflow narrow neck bottles or bm bags to pump into. (This is the one I have)

I have read that the Lansinoh Affinity Double Electric is the same as Ameda Purely Yours. The Lansinoh pump is 125 on amazon

And if you have a Flex plan, they do cover it 100%. I just got the reimbursement for mine.
