So apparently my BD met with one of the three lawyers I met with and now he calls to tell me I can no longer use Cooke because he met with him and after talking a little the lawyer remembered me and told my BD that he can't represent either of us now. I thought that he could still represent me but not him since I met with him first. Anyone know this rule?

Very good point. I would keep looking, and if you decide on any particular lawyer let them know you will be retaining them and maybe see if it's possible for them to decline any consultations with your EX. They might not agree to do that unless the retainer fee is paid, but it's worth asking so that you don't go through this scenario a dozen times.
You are all correct, thank you. I was just totally shocked when he called me and told me I couldn't use him since the lawyer had already met with me.
When I met with him he took my name first thing, so I would have thought he would have done the same with BD before hearing his case as well and I feel violated that he told BD I have already met with him. What would have happened if I was trying to keep it hush hush so that he wouldn't get mad (like he did when I told him)
I am putting a retainer on the lawyer I want to go with Monday since I know he is also looking at the moment and I do not want this to happen with her. Can't believe of all the people in the phone book he picked that one! ha
