I took Ava late yesterday, back to the splashpad where Mean Mommies have roamed.
It was a lovely day, and pretty quiet.
There was a mom (?) there, a bit older, wearing a regular white shirt and long skirt. She was far from svelt, but didn't seem to care one bit that everyone could basically see that. Obviously she got wet somehow and said "eff it" and just got soaked to her bones. White shirt, bra, and all. lol. She was with 5 kids, ages 4-10'ish, and it appeared her husband (?) was with them too. All soaked.
(Lesson #1 - not one kid cared that she was pleasantly plump and soaking wet. All they saw was someone willing to get in and have fun)
For about 45 minutes, she ran around with those kids, splashing, filling up buckets and splashing them (in the nicest way, no faces) and getting doused right back. LAUGHING their butts off the entire time. It moved me to tears. It was such pure and simple summer fun.
(Lesson #2 - who needs TV or video games?)
It was a mom enjoying every moment with her kids. (plus the kids were all different ethnicities, I let my mind wander, wondering if they were foster/adopt kids, not that it matters, it was just a beautiful blended family, if that, indeed was their story)
I popped over to her on our way out, and said "You are BEAUTIFUL!" She laughed and said "wow. Don't hear THAT much! thanks!" Me: "It just made me smile to see you enjoying those kids so much, made my day and then some!" "Glad I could help! Your daughter is a doll, too!"
(Lesson #3 - everyone needs to hear they're beautiful once in a while, I say.)
Re: A *cute* splashpad story, this time.
