All the cute ideas I've seen or come up with involve something for a father to display or use in his outside-the-house office. My DH is in sales and works from home/ out of his car, and I'm *clueless* about what to get him. Even the cute D-A-D photo seems like something to take to work. There's not really anywhere in our house for such a thing, kwim?
I try to do sentimental gifts for holidays such as this, but I actually broke from pattern and asked DH if there was anything he wanted - golfballs, he responded. (Very specific, expensive golfballs, but still.) Fine, whatever, but I'd like something "sweeter" to go with it.
Any ideas?
If your DH doesn't have an office - what are you getting him for Father's Day?
Re: Father's Day is hard when DH doesn't have an office!
My DH has an office but I tend to get him wine/food related gifts. Last year I got him a Margarita Maker and this year I got him a wine chilling bucket. LOL. Not very sentimental I guess but he loves stuff like that. I do give him sentimental/personalized cards and stuff with messages from Toodle/Doodles but the gifts, not so much. He already has TONS of pics and frames with Toodle in his office...
ETA: For his 40th bday last year I got him a monthly wine club membership - if your DH is into wine or beer you could do something like that to enjoy at home? But again, not very sentimental. I swear, we are not alcoholics! It's just DH's only real "hobby" outside of very high end stereo equipment which we no longer have room or a setup for...
DH doesn't have a permanent office but we do have a home office that we share.
This year he got a new BBQ grill. I gave it to him early since we use it all of the time. I was going to get him some new grilling accessories, they have a lot to pick from at Sur la Table. I still have to figure out a more sentimental gift to go with it. Last year my play group had a woman come in and do all of the kids hand prints in a clay mold. It was glazed and says Happy Father's Day along with dds name and the date. We have it hanging in our bedroom. The year dd was born I got him cuff links with her initial and a BOB jogging stroller since he loves to run.
I always make Father's Day cards for him. The past 2 years I've had dd put her hand prints in them and this year I'm going to let her decorate the card herself and put DS hand prints in it.

Last year I put together a photobook from shutterfly of pictures of G and Daddy with funny captions thanking him for all he does for her. (we have a pic of her grabbing a beer I am holding and another of her putting a cigar, in its case, in her mouth-- yes, we are that good of parents!) and the caption says "thank you for teaching me that drinking and smoking don't make you cool" and then the adjacent page is a picture of her in a snowsuit and sunglasses looking like a bada$$ and that caption says "being cool, makes you cool".
I will probably do another one this year so we have the pictures, (she LOVES looking at those books) but if that isn't your thing-- how about tee fees for a nice golf course to go along with the golf balls?
My DH does have an office, but I don't really do "office gifts!" Lol!
This year he is getting: (and some of this is coming from my mom and aunts too...):
-A Kindle
-A Kindle cover with light
-Some new bathing suits
-Grill Daddy grill brush......if your DH likes to grill, this brush looks pretty cool! Look it up! You can buy them at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.
-Maybe some new ties
Nothing too exciting (except the Kindle!), but I don't do a lot of office stuff either. My DH likes pics to put in his office, but he doesn't like a cluttered space, so I don't bother with "desk" stuff.
