Private swim instructors in NKY?

I have got to get them in swim lessons!! Gahh!

I have had the hardest times with scheduling, and the fact that I have no one else to watch the other one while I am in the water with one has made it difficult. Not to mention the new ban on toddlers in pools.

But, Sawyer LOVES the water. Jumps in, goes underwater, diving board, slide, loves it all. Which is a great thing- and a terrifying thing all in one.

So, they need them.

I'd like to hire someone to come to my house and give lessons to both guys.

I have called NKU and Town and Country in wilder- no luck.

Anyone know anyone? Please say yes.

  • Aren't you in Campbell County? Have you tried calling the YMCA in Ft. Thomas and asking them. Maybe one of their life guards/instructors would be interested.

Would you travel into Ohio (New Richmond area?)  If so, send me a FBM and I'll ask the woman I know.
  • Call Towne and Country back and ask for Kammie. Or try Silverlake and ask for Lisa.
  • I just googled this because I could have sworn there was a company that had private instructors and I couldn't remember the name.  I didn't find it but I did get some results on care.com for "tutors" who offer private swim lessons...

  • I have a friend who was a lifeguard at the Y for a long time and has taught swim lessons to the little ones.  I can check with her today to see if she is interested.  I know she has come to people's homes and given private lessons.

Want me to ask?  Oh and she lives in Highland Heights so I don't think she is very far from you.

  • Have you looked in to Infant Swim Resource www.infantswim.com? It is different than traditional swim lessons. This teaches them how to float and keep their head above water. Some people are uncomfortable with this approach but it was recommended to us by our family dr and one of my best friends is an ISR instructor in Charlotte. You can go to their website and find an instructor near you and most of them will agree to come to your home.

  • I would definitely ask around at local pools.  You might ask if they have WSI certification (Water Safety Instructor) which means they took a course to get certified to teach swimming.  I wish I lived closer, I'd teach your boys!
  • I was going to suggest the ISR also.  A friend lives in NKY and I know she did it with her oldest at least, some of us here are friends with her on FB but it's back from when I got married so I'm not sure if you know her?  If you want more info I can ask her.

  • Here is a video of an ISR trained infant surving drowning:

We are going to do some swim lessons at Silverlake this year (the schedule is what has been tough for me too), but plan to do ISR in the near future as well (I just recently looked into it and it's not in the budget for 3 children at the drop of a hat, but we are totally sold and we know that we couldn't say our children would survive that--keep in mind our child did almost drown last summer and it was the scariest thing I've ever experienced--we will rework our budget to make sure it happens as soon as possible).
