Success after IF

New York City ladies...

Next Wednesday DH and I are going to NYC.  We will be there for 5 days.

Any recommendations/tips for us?  My husband loves music so we would like to catch a live show or two.  I would like to go to the Brooklyn Flea.  He's also seeing if he can get some Yankee tickets through his work.

We are planning to go to MOMA, and I would like to do some shopping.  I have been to New York several times before, but always for work...We stayed in fancy hotels and ate at fancy restaurants...Let's just say I need some tips for a more budget friendly New York experience!  LOL

Thanks!!

  • And we aren't bringing the kids!  It is our anniversary trip (5 years!).

I left NYC a few years ago but I highly recommend Adrienne's on Stone Street in Lower Manhattan.  It's one of my favorite decently priced restaurants in the city.  And Stone Street is a real scene on summer evenings - full of the after work crowd from surrounding buildings.  It's an old cobblestone street totally given over to the restaurants that line either side of it - so just tables for all the restaurants and bars.
  • You've got to have ice cream (frozen hot chocolate) at Serendipity!  Mmmmm!

It's between 2nd and 3rd Ave by Bloomingdales.

  • I could go on and on about where you should go! I will think about it and talk to you more about this weekend! I am sure my husband will have some ideas too. We spend a lot of time in the city!

    The Brooklyn Flea is awesome!

Dylan's Candy Bar :):) BEST candy store ever!!! I have no idea what street it is on....ha ha. Maybe one of the NYC girls can post the streets.

You can also do the Empire State Building and stroll through Central Park!

  • If you're planning on "taking in a show" - definitely see Wicked. It's the best out there right now. We have tix to Spiderman in 2 weeks, but that was  DH's choice. I'm the last person to ask about budget friendly dining in NY =) We go to the city to specifically east at fancy, famous restaurants.

Be prepared - it's HOT here right now. NYC in the summer is not my favorite place to be. It's sweaty and smelly.

     Wear comfy shoes.

  • Thanks for all of the tips/advice ladies!

Soccerwife...I am okay with having a drink or two at famous fancy bars:)

I have been there in the summer...you are so right...a new smell around every corner.  And I have an amazing sense of smell as it is!

I saw Rent, MommaMia, and something else that I can't even remember the name of...clearly not that great!  haha
