I've called them my sidekick or my coworker but I don't really think of my LO's as my best friends. I think of DH as my best friend or my best friend as my BF. What do you think? I've seen some FB posts that say Happy Birthday to my best friend. She is 2 today.

Re: Do you think it's odd when people call LO their "best friend?"
you couldn't POSSIBLY be my best friend unless you could kick back a few cold ones with me. just impossble.
lmao
Man- I am thinking about alcohol and you are thinking about 2nd grade... I need to chillax on my major partying days lately. ...... wishful thinking....
I was out Tuesday night- for 2.00 pint night with a friend. Was dangerous.
HA, ditto Stacey! I do think it is weird, I call DS "my favorite buddy" though - but I feel like that is different? I guess because when I think of a "best friend" it is someone who gets you, and is a support system when crappy things happen. So DD and DS aren't exactly giving me a shoulder to cry on when things are rough lol
I also find it weird when people say they are "in love with" their LO's. I love my kids with all my heart, but I am "in love" with my H and only my H

I don't think your daughter can be your best friend until she is an adult. I don't think that your son can be your best friend, even when he is an adult. I would also appreciate anyone who wants to tell MIL this.
I think "lil buddy" is a cute nickname for a DS.
I think it's very weird and honestly, I've never heard any mother refer to her child as her best friend. Is this something unique to Facebook? I wouldn't know because I'm not on Facebook and I don't want to be.
Ditto!

Now that I think about it, I have called LO "mama's precious friendy".
But it is really hard to rhyme with Mackenzie.
That creeps me out.
