I felt badly for Stella this evening. We were at Home Depot after work and I had both girls in the cart. Hadley was in the front and Stella was sitting in the cart. A group of women came up right in Hadley's face saying how cute she is and oohing and ahing. Not a single one said anything about Stella. She looked sad sitting there in the cart by herself while people fawned over her sister. Then to make matters worse, one of the women bent down to her and said, "I bet people said the same thing to you when you were a baby." WTF? Like she's not cute anymore now that she's a toddler? I'm probably just feeling overly sensitive, but I felt badly for Stella. She knows what cute means and she certainly knows what it means when people ooh and ah over you. People are weird!

Re: Why are people only drawn to babies?
That makes me sooooooo mad! My cousins DD is exactly one year younger than Isabel. We went to Sam's (like a warehouse grocery). They have 2 seater carts so both girls were sitting up top. As soon as we walked though the door two women walked up and got all googly with cousin (this was last year-summer time). It really hurt my feelings. I have a beautiful baby girl and all they did was talk about how cute cousin was never even acting like another baby was in the cart
It really pissed me off, I took the cart and started walking away while they were talking. Even before i had kids I had far more curtsey than that! I have always given gifts to the big brother/sister, comment on all kids if I'm going to comment on one, it's just common curtsey!
I'm sorry you had to deal with suck rude people! You have two crazy adorable girls!
What?!? Who says stuff like that?!? That is just so freakin' rude.
People at Costco LOL

It happens to us too. But Lilah will do her best to get attention by saying things like "That's MY BABY sister" and get all possesive.
I actually am more drawn to toddlers. I love making faces and talking with them. I always loved the age of 3-5 (especially since discipline wasn't involved)
They say such funny funny things!
aww..that sucks!! **making mental note to make sure that I always talk to ALL children in a group***
oh...and I noticed something similar when I went to the mall with DS and my friend who has twins that are older than DS...He might as well not have existed!
Know what else I've noticed? More people seem to fawn over baby girls than baby boys. I would chalk the extra attention given to DD up to the fact that she's just cutter than DS was as a baby or something
but, nope - she gets the same amount of attention DS did when I have her dressed neutrally (I love white on babies) -- it's when she's in head to toe pink that people absolutely swarm us!
Having only one kid, what happens to me more often is people fawning over (and taking pictures with?!?!) my dog, and ignoring my kid. I don't really care, but just find it all very strange. People are weird.
Because we're fancy like that.
Honestly? I think it's because you never know how a toddler will react to a stranger whereas babies are usually pretty non reactive.
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!

That is like my DS - he will sit there repeating things I am saying, and trying to get people's attention. However, (and I know from the other post that this is controversial to say) my DS is super shy, and I don't really think he minds when people don't say much to him!
UNBELIEVABLE!!
i can't believe how insensitive people can be. =(
It is soooo bad with twin babies. People FLOCK to them everywhere we are. Ava will be right next to them, practically begging for attention ("Ava wear princess dress! Ava have blue nail polish!") and people will completely ignore her. It drives me insane.
Seriously?!? Ava is absolutely adorable. I can't even imagine passing her up!
Aww, thanks! But how could anyone ignore Stella??
