Welcome to the board. There are several of us H'ville area girls so hopefully we can answer your questions.
H'ville is a pretty large area, so it really is going to depend on what part you are looking at as to good neighborhood recs. Like if you are looking for outside of the actual city, etc.
A few churches have MOPS...and then there are several MOM"s clubs, and the H'ville area Mom's and Tot's associations (depending on which area you live in).
There are tons of kid friendly things to do here, and we are only an hour to an hour and a half from Chattanooga, Nashville, and Birmingham. And only 6ish hours to the beach
Hi ! What area do you think you'll live in? I'm originally from Madison, and grew up there. Now I live near Birmingham. Several ladies here live in Huntsville!
I'm from Huntsville/Madison and I attempted to join the meetup.com Moms and Tots group but ehhh. Definitely wasn't my thing. Just wanted to put my two cents in on that group.
As for neighborhoods, it's really a mixed bag depending on where you really want to live. I know someone who lives in a neighborhood off of County Line Road and the subdivision had so many families it had it owns SAHM group.

Thank yall so much for all your help!!!! My husband is considering a job in H'ville so I've wanted to get started researching. We will probably start out by renting a home, I've looked on craigslist but all I saw were apartments. Any idea where to look? We want an area with other families since we won't know anyone. I didn't even think about a church. We'll need one of those too....sheesh. I've never lived away from my family so this is kinda scary! His parents are in Mobile so we'll be closer to them but still alone. Sad.
Go to valleymls.com and you have the option of looking at for rent homes that are listed with real estate agents. There are several different areas that you can find listings in. Some of the areas around here are Madison City, Harvest/Monrovia, Hazelgreen, Huntsville(North,East,South), Hampton Cove, New Market, East Limestone...just to give you an idea.
Feel free to ask any questions here...we will all do our best to answer them.
Hi! My favorite playgroup is at Crestwood womens center. I've met some of my closest friends there. Feel free to PM me and I'll give you more information. There's also the Mom's club, depending on where you live in the city.
Probably the most central location to live in is Madison. It's close to everything.
Hi and welcome! I'm in the Huntsville area as well! It's pretty big so not sure where your husband would be working and where you want to live. Looks like you've got a good start! Good luck with everything!
I am in Huntsville too. I don't post that often. If you need any help just let us know. My MIL is a realtor if you need one. Like the other girls said. Pinning doen a location is the first stap. Once you have that figured out it will help. good luck
