Paging Dr SAIF - panic attack?

Okay so I've had a migraine for 6 days. Yesterday I started feeling better because the RE finally allowed me to take migraine meds and they Rx'd Zofran so I could keep food down. Today I'm really improving even more but all night last night and now all of a sudden, I keep feeling what I can only describe as a panic attack.

Usually if I get a true panic attack it will feel like a hear attack with palpitations, flushed cheeks, etc. This is a little different in that I get a panicky feeling and it feels hard to breathe. It's not actually hard to breathe because I'm combating the feeling with deep breaths. However, it keeps happening. No flushed cheeks, no hard pounding heart but it feels more fluttery instead.  I'm also not stressed. At all.

Do you think this could be residual from the migraine meds? I haven't taken one yet today.  I feel like I'm falling apart. This is so nuts.

Re: Paging Dr SAIF - panic attack?

  • That sounds like the kind of panic attack that my MIL would get.  I feel so bad for you!  I can't imagine going that many days with a migraine.  Did you get the aura too?  I hate migraines.

You are so amazing for going through all of this Reems!  I think you are incredible.

I hope the panic attacks stop...that's too much for one person.

  • not to add to your panicky feeling...but at day 6, are they sure its a migraine?  I think i'd be pushing to have a CT scan or something :(
  • I was actually in urgent care 2 days ago with the same concerns. That's when the RE finally agreed to let me take my migraine meds. They are helping so I do believe it's just the migraine from hell.

One of my friends was just telling me that sometimes anxiety catches up to you when you finally slow down. I've been making an effort to chill, so I guess that makes sense.

    What a ride.

  • What is your migrane Rx? I was on imitrex and the relpax. Imitrex gave me the most awful, shaky feeling. Kinda how I feel leading up to a full blown panic attack. Relpax was much easier on me.

Hang in there lady. Migranes are awful.

    I'm so sorry :(

I don't much about the migraine and IVF meds......but is there a possibility that it could just be from the "cocktail" mix of all of these meds????

I hope things calm down for you soon......I will be thinking of you. Sorry I don't have better advice....ugh!

ok, well that's good!  and ditto the PP, imitrex makes me a mess...relapax was better for me
  • I was also in immtrex (sp?) for migranes I took ot everyday to prevent the migraines and it also made me super gittery, hands tingly, and kind of just foggy, I hated it. I had to switch meds cause of the side effects.. I am currently fighting a migraine on and off since Tuesday it seems to get worse in the afternoons.. Mine is hormonal which blows..
  • Mine was worse in the afternoons too. At first they thought, because of that, that it could be treated with benadryl but no dice. It's just the estrogen (and maybe stress) that is causing it but I can't stop taking the estrogen.

I was taking Imitrex but I also have Topomax that I can take instead.

This too shall pass.  :)  At least I'm no longer throwing up.

  • ditto the imatrex. Your sugars ok? Thyroid meds?

  • Sugars are stable now that I'm not puking all the time and I'm not medicating the thyroid currently. All good thoughts though. If sugar is low I just get confused and can't form sentences.  That's always fun too.  lol!
