Success after IF

And now I have to Go Rogue again.

hemo doc's nurse just called, and ordered protein c & s tests and that's it. WTF? Aaaaannddd the f'u appt to discuss it not until next week, a day before my FET. My ute is ready. I really don't want to delay, cuz I suspect we'd have to start all over. I'm thinking if just bumping myself up to 80mg lovenox, 40 x2 a day, until my follow up appt. I also asked the nurse to relay I want him to run every ''sludge blood'' test he's got. Anyone have a better idea?

  • I'd call and ask to speak to him shortly today even if it's the last thing he does before he leaves.  Maybe the two tests he ordered are the ones he thinks he needs.  Regardless you have an urgent need for more info and you need it from the doc himself, not a nurse right now.  GL!

  • I'd say if all else fails, it wouldn't do too much harm to move your FET back a bit. I've been put on pause for 1 and 2 weeks past the usual transfer timeline with no changes to my lining, etc. You'd hate to start all over, but you'd hate to not figure this out and waste a try too, no?

  • reems, how close to the scheduled date did u bump it? Anyone else delay, RIGHT before??? yesterday she said he would call me himself. Now i get the run around. I called dr hee, just for gigglez, he's out till next week. Of course.

  • I would also try and talk with him today.  FWIW, I took 40mg of lovenox 2x per day - I have Dx'ed clotting issues but they were minor and the lovenox was really just a precaution and to make me feel better.  Its obviously not risky to take more.
  • The first one we bumped in the last week because of their vacation schedule. The other we bumped from the beginning. Either way, I don't have an advantage in the extra estrogen past the first week anyway, and according to this doc (not all) a lining can't get too thick. Only too thin. I had to bump an entire week because they only do transfers two days each week. You could potentially bump a matter of days too though since I assume your RE is more flexible.  ;)

no offense reems, but I ain't gonna listen to a dang word THAT re of "yours" says

    ;-)

It seems that a theraputic dose for a lady my size having a clot, PE's, etc would be A LOT more than what I'm on. So there's room to go way up for the week and deal with monitoring, causes, maintenance dose, etc. next week.

I can only hope this all points at something solid. Get me OFF these steroids if I don't need them. (I can hack doing IVIG, that's a PITA, but not physically an issue, unless I get hives again. lol)

Totally agree!  Maybe even emailing him would be a good way to get his attention.

  • If I were you, at this point I would be about ready to explode.  Can you get IN THERE and see this hematologist?  Like get in there and say to his face, "This is NOT normal and I am spending thousands of dollars on a FET next week.  WHAT is going on?"

I can't even fathom being bumped because of scheduling...we are scheduled at my clinic when we need to be scheduled not when it's convenient. That being said, my RE wouldn't bump after I had the final ute check but I know everyone is different. I would call and demand to talk to someone and ask for additional testing just to rule anything out.

  • this just in... I was tested for Protein S a couple months prior to my 1st IVF in CR/Panama. Results were on the very low side of normal (like, you WANT the numbers to be high. Mine were not). Nothing was ever said/done.

Guess when most Protein S carriers loose their babies? Right about 12 weeks.

    ;-(

anyone carry a Protein S or C diagnosis? seems it's just treated with a theraputic dose of lovenox?? (meaning, much more than I'm on)

  • They coasted me for 5 days (I think?) when my lining was a little thin.  They just kept up the estrace, held off PIO and the trigger (I did a fake low-dose trigger. I forget why.)
