NBR: Mac users & printing your own photos

I've been printing our own photos for awhile but have noticed that when I print them from my Mac now that the pics come out darker than they seem on the screen. Is there a setting I should be using so that they come out more vibrant?

  • Mac monitors are back-lit. Actually one of the reasons they look so crispy nice :)

If you are post-processing your images for print, you will want to increase the brightness level a tad. It's likely that everyone but you is seeing the images a touch darker too :)

    I had no idea. Thanks!

  • I'm not editing them or anything. That's way above my head ;) I just wanted to print out pics for a project and to send to the boys' schools. Does it matter if you print out of iPhoto or Preview?
  • I don't have a Mac, so I'm not familiar with the applications you're referring to. However, if you have the ability to increase the brightness on your photo a little bit via iPhoto try it out before you print at home. Adjust as needed.
