Moms of boys...do peepee teepees work?

I am thinking they'd end up just falling off when LO squirms. Is it worth it to get the actual peepee teepees, or should I just toss a washcloth over him? I experienced the pee fountain for the first time today, but thankfully I caught it with the diaper pretty quick.

  • I have no idea what a peepee teepee is but I'm going to guess it's a waste of money. I just drape a cloth diaper over him if it's cold.

  • I'd say definitely not worth it....I've never used one, but I'd imagine it would fall off easily.  The older they get the less they seem to pee when getting diapers changed.  I just change real quick and hope for the best!

  • I never used it. Having to wash it non-stop just doesn't seem worth it to me. I just changed it quickly with DS!

  • I didn't buy them, but I'd say they're a waste of money. Give yourself another week or so. Once the circumcision is all healed up (if you had it done) and the cord stump is gone, diaper changes will go much faster.

  • If I know the diaper change is going to take loner than usual I just put  washcloth over him and it serves its purpose.  No extra expense - the teepee things seem like a waste of $$ to me.

  • NO.  He either kicks it off or pees it off.  Waste of (my brother's) money.

  • I just put a burp cloth over him as soon as I take the dirty diper off. I would think the teepees would just fall off.
  • No! They fall off. We just use a washcloth.

  • Ok, thanks for confirming what I already suspected. Washcloth it is!

  • LO pees EVERY time I change him, not sure what it is, but I've been peed on a million times.

I just use a wipe.  They aren't super absorbent but if you let it sit out a few hours, the wipe dries a bit, then it will absorb a pee fountain if needed :) And if you can get by a diaper change without the fountain, you can reuse the wipe (so long as it's clean)

  • MIL bought me a bunch of them for our shower.  I gave it a try a few times, and he kicked it off every single time.  I hate them.  They remind me of gnome hats though, so maybe I can sell them for that purpose.

  • DS pees every.single.time.  We use a washcloth.  A peepee teepee would be a waste of money.

  • My mom bought us one because she thought it was cute... and I've yet to use it.  I usually just throw a prefold cloth diaper over him while I get him changed.

  • First thing we do is throw a wipe on him. It has worked every time...and he pees a lot!
