Dayton area childcare

Ladies, I need your help.  I'm getting told in a roundabout manner that basically my mom can't handle caring for DD even though I keep asking and she doesn't say anything.  I need to look into childcare.  Bad thing is I may need something in 4-5 weeks when I start my summer teaching and we haven't budgeted for this at all.  Does anyone know anywhere good or places to avoid in the Beavercreek/Fairborn area?

I have no recos, but my MIL was watching B more and more.  While she loves seeing him, we kept getting the hint that she was getting tired.  We went to 2 days/week of daycare and 3 days/week at her house and she seems to be really happy because she still gets to see him.  Not sure if that's an option or not, but it works for her, and it kind of sounds like something similar to what we were potentially dealing with.

In terms of daycares, ODJFS's website was a hugely helpful for looking at violations, etc...  some are nit picky, but it did help me weed out some of the centers we had considered.

Thanks!  I think that is kind of what we will end up doing, only having DD there a couple days a week and my mom watching her a couple days.  I can work it so that she has DD on the days I don't work as long.  It doesn't help that she also watches my 7 yr old nephew (who also stays on average 2 nights a week) and then also volunteered to watch another 7 yr old this summer.  I know DD is a handful but I wish this didn't come crashing down all at once when we weren't prepared, and she will throw a fit if we put DD in daycare, but we have no choice it seems.   I will check out the website and have to do some calling around this week.

  • I'll FB you back here soon!  It sounds like it could end up being a really positive situation for your DD - a couple days in a social setting plus a couple days per week enjoying grandma cuddles sounds like a perfect life to me! :)

Thanks Linz!  DD would do really well in a social setting with others her age, and I did really want to get her into preschool of some kind as soon as we could for the socialization, but just hoped not like this.  I feel kind of like we are getting railroaded into it.  I am trying to look at the good though.

  • A friend of mine uses the La Petite Academy in Beavercreek and has been very happy with the center. I agree that PT at daycare sounds like the perfect solution for your situation.
