Sleep.....suggestions

Last night was a terrible night of tossing and turning!  Since LO has dropped, sleeping on my sides is very painful. I use a body pillow, which isnt working to relieve the pain in my pelvis and Ive tried pillows between the legs and under my butt...nothing!  Between that, LO's constant movements, and the "lightening strikes" I get down below, Im so uncomfortable Im almost to the point of crying.  Any suggestions on sleep position or just how to get more comfortable at night?

TIA

Re: Sleep.....suggestions

  • I wish I had an answer for you... My mountain of pillows just isn't cutting it anymore, either. I typically get up and sit on the couch for an hour or two in the middle of the night. Between the lightening crotch, bathroom breaks, heartburn, & leg cramps - sleeping through the night is a thing of the past!

I'm not a big drinker but I really wish I could just have a few drinks. *Sigh* There's nothing like getting a nice buzz to help you sleep...

  • Is there anyway to do maybe so "light" exercise before bed.  Like late afternoon or evening?  Walking or laps in the pool or something?  I can definitly tell you a little pool time knocks me right out.  I sleep so well sometimes it scares me!
  • Wish I knew...I think I have become accustomed to crappy sleep.  I only do one pillow between the legs and one under my head...sleep on left side and switch to right every so often just to relieve any back pain then roll back to my left.

I found after adding more and more pillows the worse and worse it got.  That was just my own personal experience though.  My older sis had a fort built around her in the third trimester, lol!  To each their own

  • My ob said Tylenol and benedryl is ok to help me get some sleep. I find my hips ache and my belly needs something under it ( if a pillow is too much how about a folded pillow. I put a pillow half under my belly and hug the rest so my body thinks it's laying on my belly and relieves some back and hip pain. And one pillow under my legs that I just prop the top leg up. GL feel better

I do a pillow between the legs and a really squishy pillow under the belly- this way the big part can sink in and the smaller sides have a little support.  I also find that I get the best sleep on the couch.  It's kinda sad since I like sharing a bed with DH, but I take what I can get at this point.

  • when my side is uncomfortable or I get hot I do my MW approved version of sleeping on my back...

Two body pillos, one on either side of me. I'm on my back but one of the pillows is slightly wedged under one side so I am tilted a bit.

I hope this helps you, it's horrible not to sleep!

  • Thanks ladies!  Im willing to try anything at this point.  Just to have a night of pain free sleep would be great!
