Babies: 3 - 6 Months

how do you wash LO's bottles...

Do you hand wash them all, sanitize them, throw them in the dishwasher...?  i am so sick of handwashing bottles every flippin day!

Re: how do you wash LO's bottles...

  • We rinse them out and put them in the dishwasher.  I have been know to run it with just bottles filling the top shelf.  We also use the Dr Brown bottles, so hand washing them became tedious.

DD only takes one bottle a day, so I just handwash it in hot, soapy water.  I'll be honest - I only sterilize a bottle right before I use it for the first time.

  • Handwash with a super awesome bottle brush and rinse in hot hot hot water.

  • I hand wash every day.  You could always buy more so you only have to wash every other day.  Either way it's still a PITA.

  • I hand wash daily. I fill the sink with super hot, soapy water and a little bleach and let the bottles sit for about 15 minutes. Then I use the bottle brush, rinsh and let them air dry. I could put them in the dishwasher, but I worry about pieces of food getting on/in the bottles.

  • I use a bottle brush with soap and hot water throughout the day(I usually only use 2 different bottles a day). Then when she goes to bed for the night I hand wash all the parts

what super awesome bottle brush do you use?!  DH is on the eternal quest for an awesome bottle brush...

  • bottles themselves go in the dishwasher but I sterilize the nipples/etc in the Medela Steam Bags every night

  • When we were doing bottles a lot, I used playtex drop ins and kept multiple nipples. I'd have enough to make it through the day, so I'd only have to wash once a day. I'd soak all the nipples in hot water, scrub with a brush and be done.

Now that DD only eats every 4 hours, I just do regular bottles and wash.

  • Handwash and sanitize.  The nanny does it before she leaves, thank god, or I would be sick of it as well.

  • I hand wash every piece and sterilize every day. My doc says to sterilize everyday until 6 months then after that only when using a new one

  • I was hand washing then sterilizing every day but it got to be pretty tedious so I asked the pediatrician and he said to put them, nipples and all, in the dishwasher. This makes life much easier imo.

  • I lightly wash with Method dish soap and the bottle brush.  I then sterilize them in our Avent microwave sterilizer.  I do this everyday - prob takes about 10 minutes total at the most.  Though I'm definitely looking forward to the day when we're doing more solids than bottles in a few months.  Mamma is tired of cleaning and making those things!

  • We don't have a dishwasher so I have no choice but wash by hand...But I put the bottles in hot soapy water, scrub them up clean, then I use my madela steam bags and steam them in the microwave...
