For People Who Had High Beta Results...

in Pregnant after IF
I am pregnant after my first IVF cycle and my first beta was in the 900's and then my Second Beta was 2,413! I transfered 2 Grade A Embies back so i'm just curious for anyone that has had high beta results what they're pregnancy turned out to be a single or multiples? My first ultrasound isn't until next week....

    How many days post ER are these #'s?  The only way to know for sure is to have an u/s, as betas can vary widely by person.  At 14dpo w/one my beta was 104 and with two it was 197.  GL!

    My betas were high and quadrupled every 48-72 hours and there is just one in there.

    FWIW, u/s is the only way to know. Before my u/s I asked around about beta #'s and most of the multiple moms said that their betas feel within the singleton range. Betas cannont determine multiples. It helped to look at the chart for normal hcg ranges by week:

    Guideline to hCG levels during pregnancy:

    hCG levels in weeks from LMP (gestational age)* :

    • 3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
    • 4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
    • 5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
    • 6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
    • 7 - 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
    • 9 - 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
    • 13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
    • 17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
    • 25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml
    • Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
    • Postmenopausal females: <9.5 mIU/ml

    There are women who've had high betas and one baby and others have two... then there are women who've had lower betas and still had twins.

    No way to know until your ultrasound. Congrats!

    My ER was 5/21 and I did a 5 day transfer on the 26th. So I think that would be 16 days post ER

    Congratulations! From what I can tell from your siggy your first beta was 11dp5dt. My betas are in my siggy- 660's for 10dp5dt and 1500's for 12dp5dt so pretty high and I'm expecting twins! But the only real way to confirm is ultrasound...good luck!

    I didn't have high betas and i'm having twins. 10dp5dt mine was 99.4 and 12dp5dt mine was 284. When I went to my first ultrasound, the RE said he was surprised it was twins since my betas were low... So you never know. Good luck!
    TTC #1 since October 2008. Dealing with MFI.
    IVF #1 w ICSI in July 2010 = BFN
    IVF #2.1 in Oct 2010 converted to IUI = BFN
    IVF #2.2 w ICSI in Dec 2010 = BFN
    Met with new RE in new city on 1/31/11.
    IVF #3 w ICSI in April 2011. HPT on 5/9 = BFP!
    Beta #1 on 5/10 (10dp5dt) = 99.4. Beta #2 on 5/12 = 284. First u/s on 5/26. = Fraternal TWINS!
    Twin boys born & lost on 8/16/11 at 18w1d due to PPROM & preterm labor.
    IVF #4.1 in Jan 2012 converted to IUI on 1/7/12 = BFN
    IVF #4.2 w ICSI in Feb 2012. Lupron on 2/10. Stims on 2/18. ER on 2/29- 7R,6F
    ET scheduled for 3/5/12- nothing to transfer :(
    Dh seeing new MFI uro & Dh starting meds- June 2012.
    IVF #5 in Dec 2012 = BFFN.
    IVF #6 planned for Spring 2013. Praying for our take home baby/ies.

    First off, congratulations!!!

    At 9dp5dt, my beta was 189.  At 11dp5dt, my beta was 560.  They stopped testing after that, and our first u/s showed twins!

    Good luck at your first u/s!!  Such an exciting time!!

    Congrats! I agree with everything everyone else said. Mine are in my siggy. I had a friends that was triple mine at the same time frame and she has one little one on the way where I have two!

    My high betas were twins, but I only had a clue due to my singleton IVF m/c cycle.  The numbers were much higher, so I had a feeling this time.  Betas seem to be very personal and difficult to interpret for multiples.

    My betas were very high with DS - and he was a singleton.  They were high this time around too - (475 14dpIUI - 2500 16dpIUI).  This pregnancy was twins -- but we already lost one.  I don't remember my numbers with DS - but I do remember them being just as high this time.

    Congrats!

    My betas were 998 at 14dp5dt and 2300-something at 16dp5dt and I'm having a singleton. 

    Married 08.06
    Started TTC 05.08
    Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH
    DH: perfect
    1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p
    2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!

    Thank you guys! This really does just show that you never know and it really is all in the U/S! :) I'll have to post the results on here once I know. Here's to a Healthy/ Happy Pregnancy for us all! :)

    Illinigal and I had our ER and ET on the exact same days so I always paid attention to her betas. Mine were much higher than hers and she is having twins and I am having a singleton. So, I really don't think you can tell from the numbers.
