Any ideas what DD might have?

DH called me at work this morning in a panic.  DD woke up and was crying and running into walls.  She wouldn't open her eyes and had a bunch of gunk in them.  Once he washed that out she would open them but still seemed to be irritated and upset.  She is also running a low fever around 100 degrees.  He scheduled an appointment for later this morning.  Have any of you seen symptoms like that before???

  • Sometimes Cambryn gets that way when she has a cold/allergies all together. It is usually coinsided with a goopy nose and only lasts a day or 2. Poor baby :( Hope she is better soon!

  • Sounds like pinkeye.  Hopefully just allergies though!

This. Have him start washing the pillows and sheets/blankets just in case.

  • Pink eye can be viral or bacterial so she didn't need to be exposed to it for it to develop.

  • Sounds like pinkeye to me.  Lucy had bacterial pinkeye a few months ago, same thing, woke up with her little eyes swollen shut and practically glued shut with the goop.  She started on antibiotics that day and we saw improvement within a day.

But yes, wash everything just to be careful.  Clothes, bedding, and toys.

    This exactly, poor kiddo.

  • DH just sent me a picture.  Her eyes are all red and puffy.  She looks miserable.

On washing clothes, do you have to wash everything or just clothes she has worn recently?  Do I need to wash my other daughter's stuff too?

  • Oh and on a funny note, you can totally tell my DH is a SAHD by his Facebook posts.  This morning's post includes mention of his garden, changing diapers, crying, pinkeye and the pending doctor's visit.

I've never done any special washing.  I wouldn't keep reusing the washcloth that you got the goop out with, and I might change a pillow case.  But she won't re-get the same pinkeye.  The bigger issue is keeping the rest of the family from getting it, so try really hard to keep hands washed and keep hands out of eyes.

  • So the good news is that it isn't pinkeye.  Our doc thought it was a cold combined with a possible bacterial type infection in the eye.  So that means antibiotics.  Oh and apparently she still has the ear infection from 3 weeks ago.  Poor baby :(
